Do any of you have a copy of this? I really want to get an mp3 of it, because the preview on Amazon sounds amazing, but I can't find it on slsk and it's not on iTunes. (It's on Glitter, the only Mariah album not on iTunes.) I might just order a copy of Glitter used, but if any of you can hook me up, let me know.

It's soooooo good!

...by Robert Palmer?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes. That "I Didn't Mean To Turn You On."

I no longer need a copy, I just found it.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 01:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Well hook us up then, fluxbot.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay. But only for a day or two, unless I decide to put it on my blog. I'm not sure if I should. I love it, though. Oh man.

...by Robert Palmer?

By Jam and Lewis, philistine.

Stupornaut (natepatrin), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Wow! 1992!

Jimmy Mod Has Returned With Spices And Silks (ModJ), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

(and this is SO feeb compared to the Cherrelle version which uses the exact same backing track.)

Stupornaut (natepatrin), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

The thing is, I like Mariah Carey.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Nate, can you hook me up with the Cherrelle mix? It's not on iTunes, and slsk is being a bitch. I had it on my old harddrive, but not this one.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

this song *does* have a dope bassline

ken taylrr (ken taylrr), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I like Mariah, but she needn't worry about turning me on.

Ferlin Husky (noodle vague), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:44 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a version of "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" on the Glitter soundtrack with Busta Rhymes and Fabolous that I like a lot too.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Here you go. All seven minutes, thanx to Michael Daddino's CDR Go! 1984.

Stupornaut (natepatrin), Friday, 25 March 2005 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks, Nate! The version I had was an edit.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 03:08 (twenty-one years ago)

glitter is totally worth buying. in fact, i can't think of a mariah album that ISN'T worth owning.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Friday, 25 March 2005 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I assumed this was her song up until like a month ago. Good stuff.

The Good Dr. Bill (The Good Dr. Bill), Friday, 25 March 2005 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

This would be my favorite thread today. Thenk yew.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 25 March 2005 03:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Not even the one or two between her debut & her "Genius of Love"fest, Yanc3?

David R. (popshots75`), Friday, 25 March 2005 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't actually own any Mariah albums (though I used to borrow my sister's cds all the time in high school), but there's at least two or three really great songs on every record she's ever done. Mariah is totally underrated in terms of critical respect.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 04:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not a fan but I love this song.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 25 March 2005 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

This is a great song, this thread has made my evening.

Leon Bluth (Ex Leon), Friday, 25 March 2005 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

love the original, love this cover- was it a single?
was there a video ?
wake up record companies and release it?
please mariah start singing ballads again (i even liked her def leppard cover).

drew carey, Friday, 25 March 2005 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Now of only she'd hook up with Gary Numan like Palmer did.

ian in brooklyn, Friday, 25 March 2005 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Music Box isn't worth owning, but that's the only one.

Rich (Rich), Friday, 25 March 2005 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that's a weak one, but "Dream Lover" is okay.

Matthew C Perpetua (inca), Friday, 25 March 2005 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not normally a fan of Mariah, but I have heard some of the Glitter soundtrack and I liked that.

Leon Bluth (Ex Leon), Friday, 25 March 2005 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Glitter's best tracks are "All My Life," which Rick James wrote and "Want you," which has a crazy 303-sounding bass line that sounds more squelchy acid than bassy, if that makes any sense.

The Emancipation of Mimi leaked last night, and it's really great.

Rich (Rich), Friday, 25 March 2005 15:28 (twenty-one years ago)

it did! i need it, rich! i love love love the single, of course.

Jams Murphy (ystrickler), Friday, 25 March 2005 15:40 (twenty-one years ago)

The second single, "We Belong Together," is even better, I think. The album also features her mimicking Twista's rapid fire (it's hilARious) and doing that Usher does R. Kelly does dancehall guy thing. Entertaining stuff.

Rich (Rich), Friday, 25 March 2005 16:04 (twenty-one years ago)

By the way: the forthcoming Mariah album (The Emancipation of Mimi) is excellent (despite that title). Beyonce's in trouble.

bogopogo, Friday, 25 March 2005 19:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I have to say that I was completely shocked when I heard Mariah's comeback single and it was fantastic; I'd assumed that after "Butterfly" and "Through The Rain" that she'd effectively killed her voice D-E-D dead and was doomed to Whitneydom but she's managed to relearn how to phonate and WOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 March 2005 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

thanx to Michael Daddino's CDR Go! 1984.

Oh God, I want that so bad! Who could hook me up in exchange for a reasonable Paypal bonbon?

Eric H. (Eric H.), Saturday, 26 March 2005 15:24 (twenty-one years ago)

No, I really mean it.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Saturday, 26 March 2005 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread is vaguely terrifying me in that I honestly couldn't imagine getting all worked up over Mariah either way at this point. But then again this is me.

Ned logged out (maura), Saturday, 26 March 2005 17:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, and Rich, you are a big fag.
