But aren't these clubs supposedly bad for artist royalties? Why is that? How are they able to pay a different amount?

hmmm, yeah, i don't think so. I've actually gotten pretty good deals on jazz box sets from bmg over the past few years. as long as you get a free shipping code, they're a steal.

yeah there's always goofy things going on with multi-disc/box set items. i find the only way to go is to wait around for free shipping and 65% off. otherwise you end up paying these sort of inflated shipping rates.
