Black Sheep - "Flavor Of The Month"

VH-1 Classic played this on the Request Hour this morning and I'd forgotten exactly how brilliant it is. I'd also forgotten that as much As I love this song, "The Choice Is Yours" remix stomps it into the ground.

Join me in praising this oft-overlooked duo (or tell me why I'm completely overrating them).

Engine engine number nine,
On the New York transit line,
If my train goes off the track,
Pick it up! Pick it up! PICK IT UP!

also love the track where he kicks the shit out of his family: "I dreamt I was hard"

"U Mean I'm Not"! Yes, total classic.

That first album has some ridiculously amazing things on it.

"Flavor Of The Month" gave me the giggles as a kid. I haven't heard it since. Dres from the group has a nice track on the new Handsome Boy Modeling School album.

Flavor of the Month was great, probably the best flows on the album, if not the best track. The Strobelite Honey video was dope too, with a track much better than the album version.
Black Sheep played a gig about a month ago in L.A., btw. Of course, I had to hear about it from a Dres interview on Pacifica radio so they've got a ways to go before they claw their way out of threads like this.

Wssn't this the first rap record to sample Sergio Mendez's Brazil'77 - or was it Herb Alpert? Still... Black Sheep were all over 1991 with this. I recall this and KMD's first were my favourite De La-derived-style albums of this period.

this album was pretty damn accurate in alot of ways
-LASM skit
-Choice is Yours intro skit
-Strobelite Honeys
-U Mean I'm Not?!

A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is a masterpiece. Even the Chi Ali guest verse is great.

A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is one of the best albums ever. I think I listened to it more than any other rap album except The Chronic.

Black Sheep KIA ad disturbed my wife something awful... I mean okay they sold a song to KIA, no big deal, but were the CGI dancing hamsters really necessary
