there is a song that made me have to change my pants it was so good.i changed my pants. then it kept on being, you know, good. and theni had to change my pants again... too much overwhelming goodness.
if i had to guess, i would guess jackson, but i know of nothing from himthat's come out/is coming out.btw, naming yourself jackson makes you annoyingly unslskable.

this tune is indeed massive!! when the string-like sounds come in, i go all wobbly. and then the track builds for 3 more minutes. and then it proceeds to groove. and then you smoke a cigarette.

OK, on friday I was at La Poubelle, a French restaurant/bar in Hollywood. It actually became a little wild late in the evening and they were playing some fun euro sounding hits. I heard a song that I actually have somewhere but for the life of me cannot remember it. It's uptempo (almost house) and sounds Latin, but I suspect it's Italian. It's instrumental has a lot of clapping and sounds like this:
bum baaa da*clap*... *clap* *clap*
bum baaa da*clap*... *clap clap*
the second and fourth "bum baaa da" go down a couple notes. After this goes on there's a very latin instrumental breakdown.
Help me ILM, you're my only hope!

Oh no! You mean La Poubelle burned down, killing everyone inside who could have told you what track they played that night? (or what compilations they usually play on Friday nights, so you could look up the tracklists?)
(I agree it sounds really familiar, but I can't put my finger on it either)

Hijacking the thread a bit...
About 10 years ago I was feverish but somehow found myself in a suburban Pier One store...it was psychedelic but the point is, I heard this song, sounded like maybe Sinatra, with a lyric something like "I want to live, I want to dance, la la la la la la la la la la la". It was kind of big band sounding. My jukebox mind plays this song all the time (despite my best intentions) and I'd love to know what it is. Can anyone help me?
― Euler, Friday, 1 June 2007 10:20 (nineteen years ago)
does anyone know a french (?) new wave song with lyrics that sound like 'now lemme lemme mosh the queen'? i doubt those were the actual lyrics. although, who knows. oh and it also had a very decadent video with people in rotten rococo gowns and whatnot.

SOLVED. Picked up the Circus Disco 25th Anniversary compilation on Thump (who released all those great Freestyle Explosion comps along with 10,000,000 other things), and there it is in all it's Italo/Freestyle crossover glory:
Stop - "Wake Up"
On the original album cover, the track is "Dedicated to the City of Los Angeles" and somewhat ethnically fittingly is attributed to Rodriguez, Dohorkian and Rodriguez.
Here is the *AMAZING* video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSW2I5U5338

What is it, wise ones?

― CaptainLorax, Friday, 9 November 2007 20:47 (eighteen years ago)
from a close friend in NYC:
"trying to find this really bad pop song that i heard at H&M the other day: female vocalist, repetitive, kind of a call out, and lyrics, over and over again, something to the effect of "I just love the way that you dance, I just love the way that you move," with a lot of "bah bah bahs" in there. Any ideas? When i do a lyrics search i get Kylie, Ciara, Outkast, but it is none of there: help!"
anyone?
