Just listened for the first time to the "Beasts of Bourbon". And it was quite impressive. Blend of punk, blues and metal. Not too far from the White Stripes and Jon Spencer but also reminding me of Girls against Boys and Gallon Drunk. The album was "Gone" with the amazing opener "Saturated" which sounded like Crazy Horse plus Captain Beefheart. Their records seem to be difficult to get it seems. Any views on these Aussies?

Search: any of the first four LPs (Axeman's Jazz, Sour Mash, Black Milk, The Low Road)

Destroy: most of singer Tex Perkins' other musical ventures (excepting the early Cruel Sea records)

aussie 'supergroup' of sorts. bloozy. mostly fantastic. tex perkins has almost disgraced their memory by turning into a humourless and pathetic washup.

their first LP (Axemen's Jazz) and the cover of "Psycho" that said LP contained were in heavy rotation amongst my mid-80's college crew. I lost track after that.

Great great band. Sour Mash and Black Milk are my favourite studio albums; the live one, despite its bootleg quality, is excellent.

i've got tix. just realised i've never seen tex live in any capacity. could be interesting just for that.

1st lineup though, eh... can't imagine it would be that great without brian hooper
