Just curious.

I've got that horrid, sub-Kurtis Blow, game-show-announcer, "and I'm here to say"-type flow. I'm much better with singing chorus hooks.

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 18 September 2004 16:59 (8 years ago) Permalink

I'm fairly useless at it. I have rhythm but I can't create good rhymes. Once in a while, I'll practice freestyling. I was awful until I realized that all the posturing was completely inauthentic. It's an obvious error in retrospect. So I started rapping about things I know, i.e. where *I* grew up and going to the lab and stuff. I still suck, but it was an improvement.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 18 September 2004 16:59 (8 years ago) Permalink

I can rap fairly convincingly in an Eminem style. I can't freestyle to save my life, but can write some half-decent rhymes.

I am way better at rapping than I am at reviewing stuff. Seriously.

Better than sounding like Mel B;

I'll give you everything, on this I swear
Just promise you'll always be there!

To answer the question posed in thread title - no are you fucking joking?

Wooden (Wooden), Sunday, 19 September 2004 02:28 (8 years ago) Permalink

Actually, I do a wicked Mel B too.

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 19 September 2004 02:34 (8 years ago) Permalink

(juxtaposition of "Mel B" and "wicked" intended as humorous. Though I do have a copy of her album!)

edward o (edwardo), Sunday, 19 September 2004 02:34 (8 years ago) Permalink

well, this doesn't exactly count but i was at a party last night and apparently some dude was supposed to show up and do some beat boxing. anyhow, he never did show up but i had two people come up to me throughout the night and ask me if I was the beat boxer. was tempting to just bust it

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 20 April 2006 19:43 (7 years ago) Permalink

xpost

yeah, there was actually some internal debate amongst MC Delta T and the Lyrical Miracle (the members of Bubble Up) regarding that one...their best track ever was "Genocide on Wells", which was about killing the high school tennis team of Wells, MN, a neighboring town...or perhaps "Seed Farm"...which was about working on a seed farm.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 20 April 2006 19:45 (7 years ago) Permalink

actually no tho their best song was "Drawin' Blood" about how they won a masturbation contest.

A|ex P@reene (Pareene), Thursday, 20 April 2006 20:39 (7 years ago) Permalink

i've been working on getting the tracks....someone i saw at a party once had a copy of a disc someone had burned off the original cassette (Bubble recorded live to boombox)...i gotta get that someday. other tracks i recall:

"Heist at the Easton Bank" (about robbing the bank in this town of about 200 in southern MN)

"He's Gay" (making fun of this guy named steve in their class)

"Fanny Packs (Crazy Wack)" (dissing people that wore fanny packs)

"King Cab" (about a datsun pickup truck that Delta T used to drive)

"Saffapants" (this is a wierd one...the title comes from mishearing a line in MC Hammer's "Adams Family" song as "kickin' the saffapants - The Adams Family", which they interpreted to mean "saffapants" as a word for genie pants, so this song is about how those kind of pants are dumb)

"Litterbugs" (about how they went around littering all over the place - even used fake NWA type "police CB" dialogue about putting out an APB for some "hardcore litterbugs")

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 20 April 2006 21:20 (7 years ago) Permalink

Hahahahahaaaaa

I do a krautrock monotone on one of my songs. It teeters on the edge of rap but doesn't quite make it over.
