Autumnal music

Autumn seems to have come early in the UK. It's not even the bank holiday weekend, and already I'm wearing a jumper. What music should I be listening to?

1) "Felt Mountain" - Goldfrapp

piano magic - low birth weight. however this is maybe more late autumn, november music ('rawest of the months' as robert browning tells us)

Nick Drake OTM

Also, if you can find it, "Late November" by Pavlov's Dog (altho the rest of their stuff sucks, far as I recall.)

Anything by Van Morrison, but especially Hardnose the Highway. The Good Earth by the Feelies. New Order. Sad Sinatra.

Burr (Burr), Monday, 23 August 2004 16:23 (8 years ago) Permalink

Speaking of this, don't you hate it when an album or single comes out in the wrong season? Sean Paul's "I'm Still In Love With You" coming out at the beginning of last Autumn comes to mind. Also, Ozomatli's Embrace the Chaos and Beulah's The Coast is Never Clear, both clearly warm weather albums, hit shelves on 9/11/2001. Bad timing all over the place on those two.

Talent Explosion (Talent Explosion), Monday, 23 August 2004 16:43 (8 years ago) Permalink

Not as bad as the timing on this:

i'm so glad i'm not in the mood for autumnal music right now. i'm going to try and extend the summer vibe as long as possible this year. however, in recent years the Mountain Goats' Get Lonely has served this purpose well.

Its supposed to be 93 degrees here today, not really feeling autumnal just yet. Maybe next week when it dips to the 50s.
