When I did so, however, I found the one-two blast patterns were so fast and furious that they could not be upfront in the mix without overpowering the riffs and hence the mood(I was using electronic riffs thru distortion pedals as guitar sunstitutes, which worked very well, and created a very cold sound). The problem was solved by making the drums extremely quiet(as they are on Transilvanian Hunger -and I notice Ulver follow the same principle on Nattens Madrigal, ie putting the frenetic drums WAY back in the mix and letting the guitars and vocals lead).

So that was all well and good, but hey, I wanted this to be dance music too, so the drums needed to be LOUD or at least not pitter-patter soft... so I went for a half-speed electro pattern instead. It worked very well, though it's not quite so faithful to the Darkthrone sound. The mood remains, but it's a lot more relaxed, less agitated. Still sounds quite menacing however, and very very cold. I don't actually have a problem with changing the rhythm, but it instantly took it out of the black metal camp and into the dance music camp.

However, may I perhaps to invite you to the Czech blastcore thread? For this dance music lover is clearly weak like a woman or a mere intellectual. There, on the blastcore thread, which I revived today like the forgotten spirits of our ancestors, you may enjoy the company of strong men with no fear of the cold.

my only stipulation... I'd like something that sounds... SO COLD.
