the mildness gets in the way for me but Matt C's review of Confessions remains my favorite review of the year.

ha ha, me too Ant!
when it gets to me real bad
I decide to quit,

then I get the chance
to write about Juvenile
or Pepito or

the new Triple Seis,
so I stay and write for free.

i have to plead ignorance so far as this website goes save this, http://www.popmatters.com/music/reviews/a/animalcollective-sungtongs.shtml which is one of the only reviews i've read in recent memory where i felt "this person can actually write OMG"

Any pub, web or print, that lets their writers go on at length in an intelligent fashion is OK with me.

stop that nonsense.

i once pissed off their film editor because she'd apparently just done a breathlessly adulatory interview with a certain hot shit filmmaker and i savaged his movie in the review i turned in.

I wrote for them for a few months, while casting about for other things. Sarah was nice, and I was impressed with how organized she was about the whole thing. My biggest hang-up was the expectation that all the reviews be 500-600 words, because I didn't always have that much intelligent or useful to say. But I guess that was my problem. For what it is, I think it's a well-done site. The writing's variable, that's always true, even in paid publications. I eventually tapered off because I got busy elsewhere. I probably still owe some reviews...
