The buzz is good. I'm eagerly anticipating the inevitable purchase. Anyone hear this yet? Thoughts, feelings?

"The Book of Horizons"? I have it. It is good, much better than I expected, very Middle-Eastern sounding. I can't take a lot of Mr. Bungle-style schizo-metal and thankfully there isn't much of that. It's a strange record, pretty engaging.

Just saw their show last night and holy crap, find a way to get to this if you are close to any of the tour spots. it was phenomenal.

Looks like they're skipping over the Baltimore/Washington area just like they did on their tour schedules when I was a kid. I'll have to check out what they've been up to since 1998 though.

So these guys have far, far more music released than I had thought. Where should I start? And how is the giallo album they released as Traditionalists?

Easy band to take for granted. Trey S is such a great guitarist.

I just got the giallo album at the show, so i havent really dug into it yet but first impression, i love the shit out of it.

starter point? the most recent official album is great, book m is great, the bylaws and constitutions things are great but early in the process.

Holy shut dude, THANK YOU for the recommendation. Shows barely started and this is already the best live music I've seen in ages

With the release of "Book Of Horizons" Secret Chiefs 3 has revealed that they are the general name for seven different bands, each representing a different aspect of Spruance's musical and philosophical interests. The seven bands are The Electromagnetic Azoth, UR, Ishraqiyun, Traditionalists, Holy Vehm, FORMS, and most likely Noddingturd Fan (NT Fan).

Can anyone super familiar with this band break down the style of each of these sub-bands?

i've listened to a _lot_ of this band's work, and i think this conceit is something that probably makes a lot more sense in spruance's head than it does in practice. if you listen to "radar" and "danse macabre", both of which are recordings credited to FORMS, they just don't sound very similar, even when one considers that these are both recordings of pieces by other artists.
