But one of the duddest band names ever.

Liked them better as Cactus.

"take me for a little while" = super classic

there's a lot of Vanilla Fudge in the used vinyl racks of this here town. Where should one start?

the one that uses The Beat Goes On as a theme intrigues me the most.

classic. i tried to fight it for a while, but then i learned to surrender myself to them, and we've been happier ever since.

Listening to their first album recently, I felt that the version of "You Keep Me Hanging On" was the only compelling track.

weren't they produced by shadow morton?

amateur!st (amateurist), Thursday, 17 June 2004 23:57 (8 years ago) Permalink

Indeed.

Classic.

1 year passes...
i like the first album, but i have almost no desire to hear anything else they did.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Saturday, 18 March 2006 03:04 (7 years ago) Permalink

i think that's a reasonable opinion. that said, first album is as C as C gets and probably the only heavy psych rock records my mom introduced me to (thanks mom!)

You might want to experience The Beat Goes On, though, Ian.

That was great, Tim. Thanks.

The Psychedelic Sundae collection looks pretty good. It's got all the early non-LP single tracks. These were the first four singles:

You Keep Me Hangin'On / Come By Day, Come By Night
(ATCO 6590) 1967
Eleanor Rigby / Ticket To Ride
(ATCO 4516) 1967
Where Is My Mind / Look Of Love
(ATCO 6554) 1968
Take Me For A Little While / Thoughts
(ATCO 6616) 1968

Please remember to vote for YKMHO (both versions, even) in the 60s poll.

When I was in college, someone brought one of their albums home and I puked. Always hated their sound. But look at the covers they do!
