Was the Whisper #1 hit "Rock Steady" created on a workstation or was this played by real people with real synths. I heard it on the radio.

probably real people w/ real synths. they didn't really have workstations back then. They had Synclaviers and Fairlights, which were kinda workstations, then later would have Korg M1's and stuff, but that wouldn't sound right.

If you don't stop asking these stupid and irritatingly-phrased questions, I am going to have you shot.

I agree that it was too early for workstations.

Besides, I saw The Whispers last year, and they did it with synths, guitar, bass, drums, etc.

if there were no workstations, then what do you call the Synclavier! It was the first workstation.

the term workstation wasn't really commonly used untill the Korg M1. It was a sampling digital synthesizer with built-in multi-track sequencing. But it's unlikely that's what they used. Stuff made with Synclaviers and Fairlights have this hard-to-define quality that you can just guess sometimes...

I never knew this was a Babyface/L.A. Reid tune. This was my favorite song when I was six.
