My best loved combinations were Blue Lines and Philip Glass' Glassworks, and the s/t Orange Juice album and the Lexicon of Love.

Anyway, re the question: Do I?!! And the culture clashes sometimes commence half-way through the same side of the cassette!
Off top off head, I pitted: L.voag vs. Peter Gabriel; Earth Wind & Fire vs. Throbbing Gristle/Chris and Cosey; Satie vs. "Zoolook"; "Paris,Texas" soundtrack vs. Zappa; Diana Ross vs. punk/post-punk stuff inc. some Crass, I think.
There were probably stranger ones than these, too.

I thought I had more, but that's all I see. I think maybe some have been replaced by CDs.

David Toop 'Pink Noir' / Marta Sebestyen 'Kismet'
Omni Trio 'The Deepest Cut vol 1' / Rickie Lee Jones 'Ghostyhead'
The Walker Brothers 'After The Lights Go Out' / Plug 'Drum'n'Bass for Papa'
Vanessa Daou 'Zipless' / Main 'Dry Stone Feed'
...y'see, I went to great lengths (leaving side-Bs of C90s blank for months) to *avoid* crazy mismatches, so all my choices are boring.

What I also did was try to fill each side with similar music, so I wouldn't have 5-10 minutes of dead tape after an LP.

The weirdest one, just like the thread-starter, featured Prefab Sprout (A Life Of Surprises) alongside Garbage's debut album. We also had Laurie Anderson's 'Big Science' but I can't remember what was on the flip.
