When you first heared the Monks, did you love it straightaway? Of course you did.

I was mostly amazed that the two songs the fall covered were EXACTLY LIKE THAT ALREADY! (Like, the fall didn't need to re-interpret them)

True genius, I wish I could have been there to see people's faces when they did this stuff live.

It's kind of corny, but never sounds quirky, and sounds harsh but without loosing a pop edge, why aren't the records more easily available?

Well...

They ARE reuniting...

Oh, it's not the same after the fact. I got the "Let's start a beat" CD and while I'm glad they had a great time and all that, I'd rather see the TV appearences on Beat Club, back in 1966 or whenever...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 11:10 (twenty-two years ago)

yes, they invented punk rock

Toon (Skelter), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 17:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I think they are a made up band.

MikeB, Tuesday, 25 May 2004 19:17 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, they were made up - to look like MONKS!

Broheems (diamond), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 19:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, but how likely is that? That whole back story Germany, army base, baldy hair - too good to be true?

I think the album was made, dunno, early 90s.

HIGGLEDY PIGGLEDY

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 25 May 2004 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

They'd be even better if they were 'made up'.

Las Vegas, here I come.

Pete Scholtes, Wednesday, 26 May 2004 00:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I was hummed the bassline (and keyboard bit) from 'I Hate You' for about a week staight, sending my friend insane.

BTW, the Fall covered three of their songs.

Sasha (sgh), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I never heared their version of "Shut Up". Any good?

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 26 May 2004 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I think they are a made up band.

Yeah, right. They said that about The Meatls too.
