Does anybody believe in J-Pop or J-Music (or even J-music, I suppose since CaSiNg is IMPORTANt)? Is all English music from Vaughn Williams to Bette Davis And The Balconettes able to be squashed into the amusingly drug referencing (meta?)genre E-music or the less oblique, governmentally accurate UK-music? And won't Jamaica want to use that J sometime? And anyway should I just forget about it?

Forget about it. 5678's and Thee Michelle Gun Elephant aren't J-Pop; that's just a lazy term for chart music you can't immediately sing along to

Exactly. Though i guess i do find it's reductiveness appealing in some sense; What's the real difference between not believing in musical genres and making stupidly broad ones incorporating epic geography/race/nation sweeps?

advertising revenue.
