Besides, weren't Pain the punk band in that CHiPs episode?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 15 April 2004 03:45 (twenty years ago) link

OMG

OMG!!
They just played a remix of two different Nickleback songs, that is unedited, and the chorus and the versus happen at the same time in each song!

That made me laugh!

If I was wealthy enough, I'd pay off each member of Nickleback to lay down their instruments for all time.

Ferg, Ah (Ferg), Saturday, 29 January 2005 16:40 (nineteen years ago) link

It's so you.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 29 January 2005 16:46 (nineteen years ago) link

Good god:

"I had to direct the meeting because they kept blabbing about my playing and that I wasn't happy with the band. It was just a bunch of lame excuses because no one could tell me the deal.

"I had to tell them to cut the s-- and get to the point. And even then they couldn't bring themselves to tell me I was done."

Vikedal says his replacement will be Three Doors Down drummer Daniel Adair, who is originally from Vancouver.

Nickelback and Three Doors Down toured together last year, and Vikedal says he figures the change was in the works even back then.

On the prospect of Three Doors Down now needing a drummer, he shoots back, "No, thanks. I'm done with them."

Now, he says, "I feel like there's a weight off my shoulders but I'd like the honest truth to come out. I feel pretty betrayed by what was once called a family."

Vikedal says he's going to take a year off to study music in Boston, with teachers from the Berklee College of Music.

There is SO MUCH WRONG in this passage. All he needed to say after that was that he was working on achieving a state of Clear.

miccio (miccio), Saturday, 29 January 2005 16:54 (nineteen years ago) link

The Nickelback mix is kinda old hat now, but I really dug the way the two songs harmonized. I'm guessing whoever put it together did some pitch & time compression to get them in sync.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 29 January 2005 16:56 (nineteen years ago) link

Both 3 Doors Down and Nickelback have one song each I actually enjoy, "Kryptonite" and "How Your Remind Me" respectively (unsurprisingly their biggest non-ballad hits). I may prefer 3 Doors Down overall because the singer doesn't sound like his colon is in disrepair, but I really wish both would just stop.

Though that guy from Seether wins the Bloody Stool Award of 2004. At least the Puddle Of Mudd guy sounds entertainingly mental.

Holy shot that video is hilarious

DJP, Tuesday, 15 December 2020 18:30 (three years ago) link

I watched that video on mute for a while and then turned on the sound. Cue surprise that this is indeed a Nickelback song, i.e. angsty and grimfaced, when the visuals would have you expect something closer to Smash Mouth. I don't know if there's another band that's as much of a punchline where the music is just incompatible with that vibe.

Daniel_Rf, Wednesday, 16 December 2020 11:45 (three years ago) link

Looked it up and that video was directed by Bill Fishman, who directed Tapeheads (along with several Ramones videos!) back in the day.
