My love for it is kinda weird: I love its aggressiveness and its serious war-themed dramatics precisely because I don't tend to go for such things otherwise. What it does fantastically well is to intensify the tension/release mechanisms of the first album: from memory "Be Brave" and "Gone" are particularly great for this: everything builds and builds and builds and then explodes in these marvellously wracked guitar bursts.

I seem to hear this album in a completely different way than I've ever heard it before, tonight, despite that I love and have played it many times before now. It leads me to believe this is actually 10 times better than The Cure's Disintegration after all.

Hell yeah it's better than the Cure! When I listen to familiar music I try to focus on different instruments but Mik Glaisher's drumming is so amazing I can't pull myself away. I forget if this is the album where they recorded his drums at the bottom of an elevator shaft.

Brilliant brilliant album. The drumming is great, but just... everything. The bass, the synthesisers, the guitar, the singing. Everyone gives a lead performance.

I am listening to this for the first time right now. It sounds way ahead of its time, both musically and productionwise. Someone please reissue this.

Guy was fucking great drummer.

Kind of amazing how quickly the 2006 reissues spiked in value (just like the 1995 reissues).

It's a great record... I love the first one, too!

Out of print again? Damn. And here I thought no one wants physical media. ;-}
I find if I listen to this album, I inevitably spin the next 2 as well. An incredible body of work.

Not too unreasonable if you don't mind ordering from the UK.

Reasonable for an LP, $70 minimum for CD.

Yeah I'm seeing that more and more; weird given CDs are now thoroughly uncool.
