WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (AP) — While Michael and Janet Jackson have been all over the news lately, they weren’t at the gala opening of their father’s restaurant.
But their brother, Jermaine, spoke about his sister’s infamous Super Bowl halftime show at the Wednesday night opening of Katherine’s, saying it looked like the clothing removal was an accident.
Joseph Jackson’s restaurant, named for the family matriarch, features Southern cooking such as collard greens and catfish.
“I didn’t understand what was going on until later,” Jermaine Jackson said. “It wasn’t done intentionally. It looked like an accident. I’m going to believe that.”
He said the story has been in the news so much because “the media have nothing else to talk about.”
Joseph Jackson declined to talk about his daughter: “The family’s fine,” he said. “We’re going to eat some of this food.”
He said his wife, Katherine, wasn’t there because she was “relaxing.”
“She’s in Las Vegas and she wishes us all have a good time,” he said.
