y'all seem to be a well read bunch. can anyone recommend some essential reading material along the lines of the creation records story or from new order to joy division? doesnt necessarily have to be about labels or anything like that..

Hey check out Julian Cope's 'Head On', a memoir of the early '80s post-punk scene in Liverpool. He's a plank, but he's a self-aware plank. What makes it really interesting is it's a mix of voyeuristic Rock Valhalla-type tall tales and well-reasoned discourse on the nature of rock performance. Unlike that rubbish Motley Crue book, which is just a list of drugs taken/Hollywood actresses shagged. Still not sure about Cope's music, mind......
