Basic Replay

Mike Taylor (mjt), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ah thanks man. Yes, I'd agree with Chip, it's very near one of the most impressive dub Lps I've ever herad. And like most of you, I've heard my share.

Today was a very good day for record shopping. In addition to the great Sun Ra live CDs (see other thread) and this AMAZING Keith Hudson LP, I also finally found that "Cofriado of the Solar Flower" reissue featuring Kubero Diaz. Awesome

roger adultery, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:09 (twenty-two years ago)

this has been blowing my mind for the last two weeks - how did i ever live without it / not know of its existence? i have loved some of the basic channel / wackies reissues but this one is just beyond! in the top 5 best dub lps ever.

stirmonster, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

WHERE CAN I FIND IT ONLINE???
not that I have any money to pay for it

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Forced Exposure has some. As far as not having any money, grab the nearest record to you and sell it on ebay or at yr local shop. Give blood. Seriously man.

roger adultery, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 02:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i done told you already, i done told you before

slip gas mask over (pre)carious maw, somnolent thrall: pick a dub's 12 pearly whites spring to life dressed in little ludic sailor outfits and shiny shoes on they molar feet, wheeling tantivy on deck in perfect circles and singing all sillylike while keith goes hamburglaresque ducky. stasis: moored to the dub anchorite. sippin' syzzzurp / lapping ichor

er corposant?

yeah, good record

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:30 (twenty-two years ago)

it's early. i should go

Chip Morningstar (bob), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't know about this one - will be looking for it sharpish. "Pick a dub" is very very good indeed, so I'm keen to hear others...

steve w, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 10:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Can it actually be better than his track Satan Side? For me that's the most ot there psychedelic dub record of all time. It's on the Trojan comp Studio Kinda CLoudy if you need it. That said I will almost certainly check this out as I haven't picked up a Keith Hudson album I haven't thought was brilliant.

tigerclawskank, Tuesday, 29 July 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
almost famous

Chip Morningstar (bob), Saturday, 6 September 2003 20:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah...this record is thoroughly amazing, and one of the more satisfying things I've picked up all year.

It and pick-a-dub are the only two Hudson records I own, but both are great.

M Specktor (M Specktor), Saturday, 6 September 2003 20:55 (twenty-two years ago)

haha you bastard!

David. (Cozen), Saturday, 6 September 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Fuck yea, this does rock. I love the California song.
Aquarius Records has it for sale on their website I found it up there last time I went.

From One Extreme To Another is very good. I've got to get the Nuh Skin Up comp soon.

On The Wire has a great show that spotlights Hudson productions.

http://www.archive.org/download/OnTheWireDentistOnTheWire_5/DentistOnTheWire.mp3

here's the rest of their dub/reggae archives. i've heard the rockers, oberserver, tubby, hudson and moody shows and they're all fantastic.

They're basically the same record, aren't they?

MATT KEMP MADE FUN OF ME IN THE CLUBHOUSE (Alex in SF), Saturday, 4 October 2008 18:09 (seventeen years ago)

brand is all dub and has none of the hawaiian guitar that's all over rasta communication, so no.

eman, Saturday, 4 October 2008 19:49 (seventeen years ago)

i know its the same songs on both

eman, Saturday, 4 October 2008 19:52 (seventeen years ago)

am0n, do you have a rip of From One Extreme to the Other? dying to hear that one. why that and the brilliant Torch of Freedom (which adds twinkling steel drum touches and wailing guitar soloing to the potent Hudson mix) have yet to get the Basic Replay treatment is beyond me.

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Sunday, 20 January 2013 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

I just found the first disc of the Hudson Affair which I'd noticed was missing a while back. It's the 1st of a 2cd set that Trojan put out a few years back. one of a series of pretty classic compis that have all unfortunately been deleted.
Had been sitting in a cd travelcase thing which I think has led to disc deterioration and I don't think I can access the last few tracks on it which is a major shame. Wouldn't rip with EAC anyway when I was trying to copy them onto my computer so I had at least a back up of the disc.

Stevolende, Sunday, 20 January 2013 19:43 (thirteen years ago)

Oh yeah classic bassy dub stuff on there, great great set.

Stevolende, Sunday, 20 January 2013 19:44 (thirteen years ago)

I still see Hudson Affair 2CD for sale new in shops. I don't think it's that difficult to find at this point. Def. easier to find than the Blood and Fire discs.

brotherlovesdub, Sunday, 20 January 2013 22:52 (thirteen years ago)

Isn't the Hudson Affair just Studio Kinda Cloudy plus a disc of his solo stuff?

One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Sunday, 20 January 2013 23:34 (thirteen years ago)

ten years pass...

listening to this (still as great as ever) and was reminded there was some relatively recent Keith Hudson discussion on here (ie in the last couple of years) but i can't seem to find it on any of the KH threads. anyone know where it was at?

stirmonster, Tuesday, 7 November 2023 22:34 (two years ago)

This one?
don't check me with no lightweight stuff — BLOOD & FIRE poll

Jordan s/t (Jordan), Tuesday, 7 November 2023 22:35 (two years ago)

thanks but not that one. was a bit further back than that and more in-depth, but maybe i imagined it!

stirmonster, Tuesday, 7 November 2023 22:39 (two years ago)

was a little bit of discussion about too expensive here:
