Got tickets for Chicago. Curious to see who the opening act will be.
Have I mentioned how much I hate Ticket Master?
― Bill in Chicago, Saturday, 10 May 2008 17:08 (sixteen years ago) link
ME TOO
plus, i hate that the base price is $48. :-(
― get bent, Saturday, 10 May 2008 17:09 (sixteen years ago) link
Yeah, the price approached my personal no go limit. (Any nonfestival show at fifty and up base price = to heck with it.)
But anyway, Mackro and I got tickets for Thursday. The last show...again!

I'm sorry, I meant Moxy Fruvous
got SF tickets. AT $122 for a pair it better kick my ass. but since I only go to like four shows a year these days I guess I can deal.

So any word on who is actually in the lineup of the band?
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 00:41 (fifteen years ago) link
Kevin Shields & most of the members of Gene
― J0hn D., Wednesday, 11 June 2008 00:50 (fifteen years ago) link
Shieldsy and the bassist from reformed texas band called Complete. Additional guitar is going to be a sweet contribution from the original axe slayer from Pillsbury Hardcore. Ringo is on drummings

Has anyone that's going to the Glasgow gigs received their tickets yet? They're cutting it pretty fine.
― leigh, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:10 (fifteen years ago) link
Hey, Leigh, which night are you going to?
(cannot help re ticket arrival as someone else is getting mine for me, but can find out, I guess)
― ailsa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 08:51 (fifteen years ago) link
I'm going to the first night on 2nd July.
― leigh, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 12:34 (fifteen years ago) link
Ah, there's a crowd of us going on the 3rd. Still no idea if my tickets have materialised either.
― ailsa, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 12:36 (fifteen years ago) link
This whole tour has become some sort of action/thriller movie.
(lol irony, given the movie of the same name as the band)
― Mackro Mackro, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 17:12 (fifteen years ago) link
The line up is: Kevin, Bilinda, Deb and Colm.

dream line-up

So Colm really is on board, Steve? Interesting!
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 17:25 (fifteen years ago) link
i wanna go!
― Creeztophair, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 19:29 (fifteen years ago) link
Where was it ever implied that Colm was not on board?
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 19:34 (fifteen years ago) link
Quite honestly I was under the impression you said he wasn't, but my brain is notoriously soft these days.
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 19:49 (fifteen years ago) link
someone here said he may not be but it seemed baseless speculation based on his living in the US
― akm, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 20:12 (fifteen years ago) link
Noooooooooo, someone said he was living in the bay area but that wasn't true at that moment as he was in LA. But he's definitely playing the drums for MBV.
― Steve Shasta, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 20:19 (fifteen years ago) link
Clarity and thanks. Well, that's good then!
― Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 11 June 2008 20:30 (fifteen years ago) link
well that was good. it sounded like a cross between elephants and planes.
― schlump, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:40 (fifteen years ago) link
I wondered if someone on here went tonight. So...?
― Colonel Poo, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:52 (fifteen years ago) link
Yay elephants and planes!
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:54 (fifteen years ago) link
Anyway, setlist or whatever?
setlist here if you wanna ruin the surprise. i would heartily endorse waiting for the added thrill of omg they're playing ___.
also, none of them have aged.
― schlump, Friday, 13 June 2008 23:58 (fifteen years ago) link
I peeked. Mainly wondered if they'd play any of the pre-YMMR stuff, doubted they would but y'know. I've been out tonight so probably won't remember the setlist tomorrow anyway. What was that about blackouts?
― Colonel Poo, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:01 (fifteen years ago) link
i have no idea what blackouts are/were/refers to but they didn't seem to figure? it was pretty great ... i forgot what a super thrashy guitar band they are. so sweet on uhhh the fifth song, too.

SPOILERZ :D
― Colonel Poo, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:07 (fifteen years ago) link
Oh god, that is a monster set! Although, pretty much any combination of songs from anything after Ecstasy and Wine would make me say that.
― Z S, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:22 (fifteen years ago) link
Hahaha, figures -- it's almost the same setlist as last time around, just reordered.

"So this is the third leg of the Loveless tour..."
― Ned Raggett, Saturday, 14 June 2008 00:24 (fifteen years ago) link
i thought of this whenever someone hit me in the face with a camera
"You Made Me Realize" crowd reaction 1992: "HOLYFUCKINGSHITITSSOLOUDICANTMOVETHINKGAARRAAGGHH" "You Made Me Realize" crowd reaction 2008: "Dude it's the part where it gets loud and crazy! I'm going to blog about all this via my iPhone. OK, I'm going to go get a beer"
it was at the ica, which is a nice cultural events venue in london, and the crowd were pretty snappily dressed. that's not a bad thing or anything, it's just like the jamc thing of the audience being pretty different.
