Who knew they had ten songs?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 22 June 2003 15:21 (twenty-two years ago)

What are you talking about Alex? These guys are going to be the shit on ILM in 2014.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Sunday, 22 June 2003 15:39 (twenty-two years ago)

We really have run out of bands. I'm going to start a 3EB POX.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 22 June 2003 22:40 (twenty-two years ago)

*this thread is not to be opened until 2014, at which point they will be the shit*

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:16 (twenty-two years ago)

They'll always be better than Weezer at the least.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:18 (twenty-two years ago)

If you say that in a restaurant in NYC, I am so going to sigh, put my napkin down, inch the chair back and count to ten.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:19 (twenty-two years ago)

No worries, Anthony. I'll say it walking down the street instead.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:20 (twenty-two years ago)

We really have run out of bands.

yeah ... i demand a MiSex POX!

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Anthony you won't have to do that because I will have already stabbed Ned with a fork.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Hmmm. You sound aggrieved.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned's gonna show up in NYC with Rivers' head in a box. I know it!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:52 (twenty-two years ago)

This implies I think he's even worth killing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 22 June 2003 23:57 (twenty-two years ago)

the first EP had a couple of good songs, the first album had four, haven't heard the second and the newie is a corker, so that's pretty much ten.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Monday, 23 June 2003 00:28 (twenty-two years ago)

yah, the new record is pretty amazing. i don't really like either High/Low or the proximity effect (with the exception of Hyperspace) all that much; the new record sounds like a completely different band.

Blizzard of '77, High Speed Soul, Blonde on Blonde, Inside of Love, and the Way you Wear Your Head are all classics

MerkinMuffley (MerkinMuffley), Monday, 23 June 2003 00:43 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, so i kind of enjoy "the way you wear your head", but then i listened to the lyrics in verse 2

i want to want you, i need to need you, i'd love to love you, i want to want you, i need to need you, i'm beggin to beg you

i'm having problems keeping myself from being very annoyed by this.

i still like the part that goes "woooOOOoooOOOO" and the guitar part that goes "bowndowdodowdowdow bowndowdodowdowdow bwow bwow bwow"

ron (ron), Monday, 23 June 2003 01:39 (twenty-two years ago)

yes. that solo is :D :D :D :D

MerkinMuffley (MerkinMuffley), Monday, 23 June 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought the blizzard everybody and their mamas wrote songs about was in '78. or is that a funny

six years pass...

i just got this in my inbox from Amazon (you might like to know that Karmic EP will be released on November 10, 2009.):

Before their major label signing to Elektra for the Ric Ocasek produced High/Low CD, the band released a 5 song EP chock full of indie-pop gems with catchy guitar hooks and sharp lyrics. Hi-Speed Soul Records is proud to re-release the Karmic EP - the album that started it all. This Karmic re-release includes a bonus track called "Pressure Free", only previously available on an out of print 7-inch.

Track Listings

1. Telescope
2. Sea Knows When
3. Everybody Lies
4. Treehouse
5. Nothing
6. Pressure Free

re-re-release. that disc was already reissued a couple of years ago, with the bonus track. why the fanfare for what is essentially a repress?
