Mississippi: The Album

XXL compared it to The Last Poets.

It has lots of guitars and melodies. Sometimes it sounds horribly dense and like two songs playing at once.

Someone told me he was known as the 'Puff Daddy of the South' or the 'Southern Puff Daddy.' He can't dance and he's angry. He drove a van, too. So, I don't know.

It almost sounds like it's never heard anything farther north of Virginia. And there was no West Coast. It's just from Eightball and MJG to whateverwhateverwahtevewhatev er to UGK to Lil Jon. And he doesn't have to try to make the drums sound like they're from old Motown records, they're just clicky noises and a big womming bass thing under it and a King's Quest III melody that will sound like it's coming from the center of your brain when it gets screwed and chopped.

Isn't that good? Because we don't like Jay-Z anymore.

I like when he says "Bush, I'm all up in your SHIT" like he really means it. I hope he goes to Haley Barbour's gubernatorial campaign stops and kicks his ass.

Is this really as good as ILM would have me believe? Or should I get some Yin Yang or Lil' Jon instead?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 20 November 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

this is better than lil' jon, which you should get, too (i'd wait for the next lil' jon anyway because it has the remix of "get low" with elephant man and busta rhymes). i'm not convinced the yin yang twins can carry an album.

vahid (vahid), Thursday, 20 November 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

also if you need convincing there was a good thread a while back on this album (i think trife started it).

which Mississipi do y'all prefer? I prefer MTA2, although it's like the difference between an A and an A minus.
