Can anyone speak to any of Walsh's solo/post-James Gang material? Yay, nay?

I've got the Best of Joe Walsh which is pretty good in spots. "Turn to Stone" and "Time Out" are a couple great guitar cuts inna washed-out 70's stylee.
Now, to follow on duane, has anybody heard the Bolin era?!

(It's "Yer Album," though, isn't it?)

Joe Walsh's guitar tone is one of my favorites.

my pleasure stormy
what's the line on the "In Concert" LP, any good? I always see it around and haven't picked it up yet. If it's anything like this I may have to ebay it

Pretty meh, if you ask me - a terrible blues, a pretty boring 18-minute "Lost Woman" and some "Rides Again" tracks really suffer without the orchestrations. (Great "Walk Away" tho.) No reason not to own Yer Album and ...Rides Again first.
Haven't a clue about the post-Joe stuff...

Post-Joe LPs are very spotty. Dominic Troiano and Tommy Bolin (2 albums apiece) were both hot guitar players, but hampered by uninteresting 70s rock songwriting/production imo. I've never heard the records that came after those two guys.

Would love to see a Joe Walsh vs. Billy Gibbons showdown, but really would just rather hear them trade stories back and forth.

Joe Walsh looked a lot like Wooderson from dazed & confused
Isn't Joe Walsh like a 70s J. Mascis?― Sean (Sean), Sunday, April 20, 2003 8:51 PM (9 years ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
