Actually, that might just be their best album. ;-)

I have a slew of All Music Guide rants about the early albums, but in brief -- first four albums (self-titled debut, Organisation, the utterly brilliantly titled Architecture and Morality -- yes, I know they borrowed it themselves -- and Dazzle Ships) are all just absolutely wonderful, the sound of a band getting better and better. Junk Culture was the more overtly mainstream retrenchment that still worked, then after that it was more the occasional single that mattered every so often. Sugar Tax is the only post-Humphreys album I own and that only has a couple of good songs anyway -- just pick up the B-sides comp and Peel Sessions collection instead.

A lot of great albums up to, and including, "Architecture & Morality". After that, keep to the singles (although "Sugar Tax" wasn't too bad an album)

I reviewed the recent reissues of the first three OMD albums for Uncut (should have been in this month but will now appear in May issue). Also did a long piece on Architecture & Morality in CoM back in February 2001 (I think; archives are currently down temporarily, but at least the blog's still there).

this is an exact thread replication

sorry Grell and sorry foax to be boring abt this but with FORMULA threads (CoD, S/D, PoX etc) can you PLEASE make the effort to check if there's one started, either via the search function (yes i know words have to be loger than three letters which is tricky with OMD but use yr branebox: i checked via "Dazzle") or in the categorised sections
