Anthony I actualy have almost all his albums (I gave up on him a couple years ago), but the thing is the same as what I said on the Bowie thread - I'm basically only picking really well known tracks because I just can't do a proper ten for artists like that. I did the same thing on the Bowie thread and I used to be obsessed with him. How can you arbitrarily pick 10 songs from prolific ultra-talented artists? You can't. It actually hurt my brane to do this.

4 weeks pass...

Ooh. Doing this list last time kicked off a major Prince-centric month for me. Consequently, I now want to completely overhaul this list. Instead of keeping some of the previously mentioned titles (for the record, "Erotic City" and "I Would Die 4 U" would fer sher still be on the list), here are 10 fresh new titles that I've been listening to big time lately:

Ballads win here, I guess.

Maybe someone can help me out here. At a club the other night, I heard a song that I swore was Prince that I wish I could track down. It was sort of a bigband-house hybrid, and no it wasn't "Courin' Time." Didn't even really sound like it. In terms of pace and general feel, it was almost exactly like Basement Jaxx's "All I Know" -- same struttin tempo, same whompy bass kick. Any helpful hints?

(xpost) I don't think any of those are on Crystal Ball. They're things that are available on sundry boot compilations. Picking only 10 tracks from his unreleased oeuvre is damn near impossible. There's just so much great stuff that's never been commercially available, plus his demos for other performers are usually leagues above the final product, esp. when he plays/sings everything himself.
