Spooky Two: Classic or Dud?

After all these years, this one remains one of my all-time faves, as far as 60s 'hard rock' albums go. A provocative merger of Zep, Righteous Brothers, Traffic, and maybe Joe Cocker, that criminally didn't catch on as much as it should have. What do others think?

Isn't it Spooky Tooth? Are we talking about the same band?

Well, yeh, I should say Spooky Tooth being the band, "Spooky Two" being the particular album I was talking about...

I found the singing a bit hilariously overwrought, but they still kicked more ass than Blodwyn Pig.

Dude, no-one kicked more ass than blodwyn pig, except maybe the groundhogs or the edgar broughton band or...er.....

Anyway, the only spooky tooth album I owned was that thing they did w/pierre henry. That was terrible, and it put me off them a bit. How does spooky 2 compare?

man i *liked* that one with pierre henry...yeah i know nobody else does tho' ('cept for 1 guy i know has *2* copies, i guess he DJs with it)...but yeah Spooky 2 is their best album...Mike Harrison's vocals are gross though...has anyone ever heard him singing "I Am The Walrus" on "The Last Puff", it's pretty rude.
The Groundhogs, they were AWESOME.

So, let's talk about The Last Puff. I've always liked this one, though it was never at the top of my list relative to some of their other albums. Listening to it right now, and it's quite good, though. Though their cover of "I Am the Walrus" is the most touted thing about this one, I actually think the other tracks are almost all better than it. "Nobody There at All" is fantastic, my favorite on the album. Their cover of ex-bandmate Gary Wright's "The Wrong Time" also great. "Something to Say" and "Down River" have a lot of soul to them. The title track closer is a great, downbeat groove to end things.

Anyone else heard this one?
