The bf and I are getting hitched in 2 weeks. Instead of taking the sane-but-awful option of hiring a wedding dj, we're going to mix a couple of cds. We are woefully out of practice.

We started off by writing down some of the bands we like and then if a particular song came to mind we made a note of it. Can anyone help us turn this into an actual playlist??? We only have 2 weeks to go... *wibble*

I always wanted to have "Computer Love" played at my wedding. You know, if you have a pitch control on your turntable, that song sounds absolutely beautiful pitched all the way down. A tearjerker, almost.

interestingly enough a friend of told me the other day that he was doing a wedding and was asked to put a CD on while people milled around before the speeches etc... for some unknown reason he put on the Langley School Choir album... went down spectacularly badly, unsurprisingly, so try to avoid that!

Man, that was very rude of me. I appreciate all suggestions, honest. I guess what I really want is a way to make what we've already got *work*, and if a a few tunes we haven't thought of will make it go smoother than that's great. Don't want to start again w/ a whole new set tho. Trouble for you lot (having re-read the list) is that our taste in music, though passionate and to us, consistent, probably looks kinda bizarre & arbitrary to others. I mean, I can happily get from Marilyn Manson to Steps in 4 easy, er.. steps; how would you guess that Buffalo Stance makes me want to scream and break windows?!

i've got a lot of stuff figured out already but am trying to flesh out the R&B/jazz selections without going all the way obvious. the songs I started w/ that i'm kind of working off of vibe-wise are like Prince's "Adore" and the Aaliyah version of "At Your Best." also doing a lot of goofy 70s classic rock.
