Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie have officially announced their collaborative duets album. Lindsey Buckingham/Christine McVie is out June 9 via Atlantic, and will be led with a new single, “In My World,” which is out Friday, April 14. The duo have also announced they will be doing a short tour of North America behind the new album, which kicks off June 21; check out the tour schedule below. The new album was previously tentatively titled Buckingham McVie, in a throwback to Buckingham’s album with Stevie Nicks, Buckingham Nicks. McVie rejoined Fleetwood Mac in an official capacity in 2014.

Yeah, it would have been a bit rude.

Lindsey definitely has a knack for depressing album covers

This cover's hilarious. I guess the major label art departments have gotten hit hardest.

Buckingham's recent solo output has been so damn wonderful. I only hope the Christine pushes him into weirder territory instead of restraining him ala Say You Will with Stevie.

DavidLeeRoth, Tuesday, 11 April 2017 18:21 (one week ago) Permalink

His tracks on Say You Will are every bit as weird as his recent solo albums, for obvious reasons.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 11 April 2017 18:24 (one week ago) Permalink

I still think this should be a Fleetwood Mac LP.

Honestly, I think it's bullshit that this isn't going out under the name Fleetwood Mac. Mick and John own the name, so if this isn't Fleetwood Mac then Say You Will sure the fuck isn't, if the same logic is applied.

I'm psyched for this record too, although it's probably bound to get less people checking it out and less press exposure generally since it doesn't have the Fleetwood Mac name on it. Which it should have.

I suppose the Stevie Nicks Fanclub think it's a good idea, though.

Buck and Perfect worked on these songs together. Then they got the ol' rhythm section to record them. Stevie wasn't involved in the writing.

The album sleeve looks really naff, definitely. It looks like it was knocked up in a couple of hours by a record label art department in 1988.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 18:35 (one week ago) Permalink

does it matter whether two musicians whose collecive age is over 140 years approved a naff sleeve?

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 18:59 (one week ago) Permalink

Maybe if they expect anyone under the age of 70 to pick it up and give it a listen?

those listeners will likely stream it

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:21 (one week ago) Permalink

Or would, if they hadn't wussed out from calling it a Fleetwood Mac record. They must be seriously expectng to make a lot of money on this forthcoming "final" tour.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:46 (one week ago) Permalink

why didn't they call it a fleetwood mac record

why

ToddBonzalez (BradNelson), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:50 (one week ago) Permalink

Well, it's clear to me that the rest of the band wanted to make a record but Stevie didn't. Stevie is going to be joining the band for a potentially lucrative tour and obviously they don't want to fuck that up, so in order to prevent hurt feelings and to ensure said lucrative tour goes ahead as planned they wussed out from calling this a Fleetwood Mac record/were forced to put this out as something other than a Fleetwood Mac record, thus denying the record the audience it could have had if it were actually being released as what it is.

Personally, I would have released this as a Fleetwood Mac record and stuck a sheep adorned with a Madonna mic onstage.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 19:57 (one week ago) Permalink

Nicks has also said it costs too much fucking money to record an album in 2017, which is a strange remark considering they got several home studios and produce themselves.

the Rain Man of nationalism. (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 15 April 2017 20:04 (one week ago) Permalink

Absolutely! Also she said something along the lines of "people don't buy albums anymore", but the demographic that Fleetwood Mac would mostly appeal to in 2017 would actually buy the physical product. I can just picture those at the Steve Hoffman Retirement Home for Lovers of Talking About Pet Sounds arguing over which is the best pressing.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 20:13 (one week ago) Permalink

Besides, she would only have needed to contribute three songs, or be in the studio for a fortnight like she was on Tango in the Night. The press about it being the first album from the five-piece Mac line-up for 30 years would have phenomenal and led to far more exposure than this record's gonna get. A wasted opportunity.

...so music and chicken have become intertwined (Turrican), Saturday, 15 April 2017 20:16 (one week ago) Permalink

Lindsey saying this could be their last album definitely intensifies the wasted opportunity

josh otm, i haven't bothered checking out any of LB's recent solo albums just because of the awful covers. a stupid reason, for sure, but not uncommon.

But I like this one, especially that it is out of focus:

love love love the single. puzzled/alarmed by the tour announcement, which currently has the buckingham mcvie tour skipping la (and ny), maybe because la (and ny) have the classic west east thingy at baseball stadiums with the eagles, but that's going to make me jealous of the rest of the country which gets to see them in not-a-baseball-stadium. please fix this, lindsey and christine, once you are done fixing the album cover kthxbye.
