It's all about, like, the vibe, man. Just imagine parking your Impala down by the river on a warm summer night, there's a bonfire on the beach, you pull an inner tube town to the water and just float for a bit, drinkin' a cold one and listening to some Starbuck. Couldn't be finer.

Yeah, I'm posting Brit music now, but they can jam just as hard as those southern boys.

This is music in my wheelhouse. I'll start by sticking to some of the US Southern rock groups outside the Allmans and Skynyrd. There are plenty of good bluesy UK hard rock from the 70s too.
Black Oak Arkansas is pretty damn strange group at least as far as 70s blues rock goes. There is an Original Album Classics of their early records that is well worth it if you find it pretty cheap. They got an odd hippy cult thing mixed with religion in some of their songs.
Blackfoot is probably the rawest and hardest of the 70s Southern Rock bands. Their live album Highway Song Live is well worth searching out but really their three most popular albums Strikes, Maurader and Tomcattin' are all solid. Well worth pulling out of vinyl bins for a couple bucks or getting cheap on CD. Oddly enough from what I understand, they had a pretty big following in the UK around the turn of the 80s.
Marshall Tucker Band's records are really easy to find in the south on LP, they are everywhere. They got a bit smoother sound with harmony vocals and tasty guitar playing. Definitely more Allmans than Skynyrd in their sound. I have heard most of their 70s records and really they are all fine.
The Outlaws are pretty good too, but their music is really much more country rock than their popular guitar army epic "Green Grass and High Tides" would indicate. All of their records are well recorded as they worked with Paul Rothchild who worked on the Doors albums and Bill Szymczyk who did the Eagles, James Gang and lots of other bands. Their live album is the one to get.
Molly Hatchet's first two albums are ace and easy, easy to find for nothing on vinyl as they sold a boodle of them. They definitely were kinda of a Skynyrd knock but their is plenty of good riffs on those first two albums.

I have that Black Oak 5CD set - it's definitely worth it. They were weirder than I expected them to be.
I'm gonna start with something else, though:
