Would be hard for me to vote against "Unfinished Sympathy," so I likely won't. The P.M. Dawn and Richard Thompson songs are deserving of more love than they'll prob get though.

I actually ended up voting for RT, the biggest emotional response for me that's not related to nostalgia. Do I regret my vote already? .....maybe.

haha, so true. i'm actually surprised there isn't more Pearl Jam on here like "Even Flow" or something like "Black" as you could not have a bigger record in the US in 1991.

Viscerally I'm saying "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or "Losing My Religion," but then again I think "Blind Willie McTell" is one of the greatest performances ever put to tape.

A good proportion of my favourite tunes from this year (and indeed for the next three or four years) are from the UK underground dance scene, so I'm voting for Unfinished Sympathy for representing that the most. Plus it's a glorious song.

Oh shit, I didn't see Papua New Guinea! Too late to change now.

Wasn't Dirt this year too? Or am I a year too early?

A seminal musical year for me, but at least half of this list is lackluster compared to other stuff that was released in '91. I think it'll have to be MBV for me, which feels weird because that's not really representative of what I was listening to at the time.

Some of the things wrong with this list: no "Iesha", no "New Jack Hustler", no Karyn White or Vanessa Williams. No "Love...Thy Will Be Done"!!!! (maaaaaybe my favorite song of the year). No Soundgarden.

I love To Here Knows When but Loveless is just such a capital-A Album to me that it'd never occur to me to vote for a single track off of it as a standout (of either the album or the year).

not sure Dylan counts as a '91 song since it's from '83 but great all the same

These are my two likeliest candidates as well. Maybe one of the Nirvana songs could compete.

Not a fan of this list either. Where's the KLF?! Still, a few great tracks though. I'm still undecided between "Unfinished Sympathy" and "Papua New Guinea", both of which are wonderful!

Not gonna vote for it, but I always liked that Bonnie Raitt song, especially the outro.

"Summertime" is so much better than that Billy Bragg or Crowded House songs.

I'm going to go off the beathen path here and vote for "Higher Than the Sun." Mainly for how many times I heard the song while high in 1991.

Not trolling, mind you (i love that album as much as anyone), but I was really expecting something a little more single-y to win, ya know?

i know Loveless is huge as it should be. saw the Loveless tour, two times in three nights in Hollywood back in 1991. i just expected a well known single to take this and not two tracks from My Bloody Valentine. so a pleasant surprise.
