truly bizarre that I appear to be creating the only dedicated thread for John seabrook's "The Song Machine"

spent 20 minutes searching the entire site: many years ago, some mentioned Seabrook's Nobrow, and of course there a dogpile re: a review of the above mentioned book by Frank Rich's entitled scion who appears to have never had an original thought in his life. Yet I am flabbergasted that there has been no dedicated thread for a fairly acclaimed book that examines a milieu that it is fair to say is of deep interest to ILM.

First of all, I typically read music books that talk about shit taking place before I was born, when I was not paying attention or not a working journalist covering this industry. So its odd to read a work that ties the events of mainstream music business, say from Britney/napster '99 to Spotify/Dr. Luke, together so tightly. I had little sense of the difference between Ester Dean vs. Boonie Mckee, or how often Stargate has worked with Ne-Yo re: songs I have dug for a decade now. And in no way does Seabrook sneer at the methods of how the most popular songs of the past 15 years have been made, despite the impression Young Master Rich conveys.

I truly will be embarrassed if someone produces an existing thread and reveals my suck-ass searching skills. but surely many of you have read this thing…

What I've seen of it I've honestly been distinctly unimpressed by.
