Songs/albums where a musician/band voices their disillusionment with the quote en quote "SCENE."

The new La Luz record has a ton of allusions to this and it struck me as a really brazen thing to do. It's not quite a full blown concept album based around this idea (like, say, the American Analog Set's the Golden Band is), but it's not far off.

What are some other albums/songs in this vein? I'm feeling really cynical and need to wallow in it for a bit...

These New Romantics are oh so boring, I could swear I've been there once or twice before
I should grow wings and just forget the club, you know the legends never wanted to be me
Far too erratic to be okay, so? If you're concerned, well I don't care
You play games and you play safe. Me? I just sighed with relief
Matthew's mother, the change disturbs me, you're everybody's friend - age, I suppose
Just like religion you're going nowhere like your so explicit clothes onto the floor
On those occasions where everything broke down, including you and me
See the boy, see the girl, the exhibition now is over

You’re being too simplistic and you’re insulting my poor heart (Turrican), Saturday, 15 August 2015 04:11 (eight years ago) link

Juno's A Future Lives In Past Tense's first song with vocals, "Covered With Hair," kinda served as their anti-milquetoast indie rock manifesto, or it would've if they hadn't broken up right afterwards

"Excuse me while I suck your blood,
excuse me when I phone you,
I've got every one of your records, man,
doesn't that mean I own you?"
Oh, sure, I long ago decided to make myself an exponent
of public possession in the private obsession zone.

But now I'm serious, let's be serious, I'm not selling you my soul,
try to put it in the records but I've got to keep my life my own.
One thing I've not got a lot of is time
and it's slipping away...

I've got a life to live too.

I want to take you far
From the cynics in this town,
And kiss you on the mouth.

We'll cut our bodies free
From the tethers of this scene,
Start a brand new colony...
