i usually play the most depressing music possible on my way into work. anything else seems inappropriate. on the way OUT of work, though, i'm usually blasting something incredibly loud

I need to pump myself up before getting to the office. I'd be knocked flat by the oppressive atmosphere otherwise.
Also:

Queen, 'We Are The Champions'
T Rex, '20th Century Boy'

I wouldn't play this, but in a similar vein, Bowie's 'Warszawa'.

I don't really use songs to hype myself up on the way to work, but I play music nonstop on my ipod until I actually walk through the door to try and avoid thinking about work until the last possible moment, and start again as soon as I leave

I would always listen to Christine 23 Onna's "Drive to Crystal Planet" when I worked at a department store and had to make cash runs to the bank every night. It made me feel like I was an intergalactic cargo carrier or something. But I don't generally try to pump myself up during my commutes.

"Killing in the Name of"

Daphnis Celesta, Sunday, 20 July 2014 21:59 (nine years ago) link

kind of the opposite of "pumping up" but John Hall - "Power" (live version from no nukes) really really relaxed me/gave me peace on one nervous drive to work.

and i'm pretty sure he's backed up by the doobie brothers on the live cut. plus vocal harmonies from carly simon and james taylor.

this thread has reminded me of this ep from this all-female (?) german punk band that i always used to listen to omw to work, but i can't remember the name and it is really pissing me off.

there was one song in particular where the vocals sounded like werewolves? i think the cover was red? there may have been an x in the name? fuck.
