She's been heavily into the "music for massage therapists" scene for decades, but her stuff is far better than most of that stuff.

the 'Voices Of Packaged Souls' record, also on Finders Keepers, is great too.

When my wife worked for her distributor, I talked to her at a conference -- asked a bunch of questions about her '70s session work, etc. -- while my toddler-age son played with her colorful pants. She was incredibly nice. Years later, that Omni clip blew me away. Had no idea she was behind Xenon.

one year passes...

Pretty big news here – her first commercially released Buchla music IIRC:

Also posted on Hulu thread, there's a Ciani doc called A Life In Waves

I saw her play last weekend! It was pretty amazing. She had her Buchla 200e(?) and a couple iPads, running a quadraphonic speaker setup, we all sat on the floor and she jammed for like an hour and a half.

Jealous!

This is a great doc! Very strong vaporware vibes in the segments featuring her commercial and new age work.

it was totally different from what I was expecting, I'd only heard her new age piano stuff

She has some cool synth improv albums. She put out a collaborative improv album with Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith a couple years ago, and also released a recording of a solo Buchla performance from 1975.

Had nothing to do tonight, so I went to see Life in Waves knowing literally nothing about her. (I vaguely recognized the name--maybe she's on the Windham Hill compilation I have?) The interesting thing is she was there for a Q&A followed by a concert--didn't know about either, and only noticed her sitting in the back of the theatre just as I was exiting. I turned around and stayed for some of the Q&A; the concert, obviously, was a separate admission.
