I thought there must have been some kind of mistake when i saw 10 new posts, its almost exactly like when the staff buses all used to turn up at Pilks

one month passes...

This week I've been reminding myself of the awesomeness of Stacey Pullen's mid-90s work as Kosmic Messenger. Somehow superior to the Silent Phase stuff? Maybe it's just timing and he learned how to bounce as he switched from SP to KM. Not everything is brilliant of course (though I'd kill to get the full comp of KM tracks regardless) but what is more the bomb than "Eye To Eye", "The Death March", "Flash" and "Get Down"? Epic like Carl Craig of that era but if it's reflective it's only reflecting on how to make yr ass move.

Wasn't Acid Jesus an early alias for Alter Ego? Or was that Acid Scout?

Tuomas, Thursday, 12 January 2017 10:14 (seven years ago) link

its roman flugel

saer, Thursday, 12 January 2017 10:16 (seven years ago) link

I think Acid Jesus had the other Alter Ego guy too, Wutke or whatever he was called?

Tuomas, Thursday, 12 January 2017 11:31 (seven years ago) link

Okay, I checked it, and Acid Jesus was indeed Flügel and Wuttke. And Acid Scout was Richard Bartz.

I never made this connections back in the day, I wonder what it'd been like if we'd had something like Discogs.com then?

Tuomas, Thursday, 12 January 2017 11:33 (seven years ago) link

^^ I often think that. Each release had it's own simple magic. I used spend hours reading Jocky Slut on raining afternoon in WHSmiths to inform my Soho record store jaunts..

Young Marco's Safe Trip label is releasing a compilation called Welcome To Paradise: Italian Dream House 1989-93.

The label describes 'dream house' as a uniquely Italian sound inspired by the likes of Larry Heard and New Jersey deep house—the result being a "head-in-the-clouds" style with "rich chords, tactile basslines, fluid piano lines and starry electronics."

boxedjoy, Friday, 20 January 2017 19:05 (seven years ago) link

basically I am 100% on board with a compilation that has room for "Last Rhythm (Ambient Mix)" and "Holy Dance (Large Sound Mix)"

boxedjoy, Friday, 20 January 2017 19:07 (seven years ago) link

Paid £40 for that Leo Anibaldi track 18 months or so ago. Everything gets reissued in the end.
