TS: 'How To Disappear Completely' vs. The Eraser

Turrican, Sunday, 1 May 2016 19:33 (eight years ago) link

Thread inspired me to pull out the TKOL FTB sessions audio again - just lovely.

I feel like we need a Radiohead in 2016 thread, and Melissa W should start it.

Radiohead's upcoming tropical house album.

New album very soon?

I sure hope so.

Austin, Sunday, 1 May 2016 22:24 (eight years ago) link

If new Radiohead material is indeed about to be released soon, I'm at least hoping for something a little bit more realised than The King of Limbs. Two of the best tracks from the period ('Staircase' and 'Supercollider') weren't even on the record, and in hindsight the live versions are often superior.

Turrican, Sunday, 1 May 2016 23:40 (eight years ago) link

Staircase is such an awesome song. I'm shocked they didn't save that one for an album.

Radiohead Erase Internet

ciderpress, Monday, 2 May 2016 00:07 (eight years ago) link

i wonder how many songs from 1997 are gonna be on this

flappy bird, Monday, 2 May 2016 00:20 (eight years ago) link

xxpost:

Ideally, it should have been on The King of Limbs. Perhaps if they'd spent a couple more months on the record, both it and 'Supercollider' could have been!

Turrican, Monday, 2 May 2016 01:14 (eight years ago) link

hoping the rejected bond theme is an indicator of what to expect.

billstevejim, Monday, 2 May 2016 02:56 (eight years ago) link

Indeed.

Austin, Monday, 2 May 2016 03:23 (eight years ago) link

I'm pretty surprised that the website didn't fade back in at dawn this morning with some new music/news. Ah well, a little more waiting yet...

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Monday, 2 May 2016 11:10 (eight years ago) link

more like "The King of Limp (Cocks)" btw

still the best post itt

It wd be p hilarious if they like created that new company and erased all their shit and then, like, released no music at all and just silently retired

sexy dander (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 2 May 2016 11:53 (eight years ago) link

So, they've posted a video of a bird chirping at the crack of dawn on Instagram. Guess the LP actually is called The Dawn Chorus, then.

Turrican, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 06:50 (eight years ago) link

It's a nice little stop-motion animated chirping bird.

Apparently the otherwise still-blank website sometimes shows the bird video too, but I'm yet to spot it.

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 08:46 (eight years ago) link

The website shows the bird video on the hour and half hour - I refreshed at 10am (UK) and it was there.

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 09:16 (eight years ago) link

The bird is a teaser for a 'wicker man' sort of video... 'Burn the witch' reference I guess... video will be uploaded probably in the following hours. Jacknife Design is involved https://www.instagram.com/jacknifeprints/

They had previously worked with them for the There There video.

I've not managed to see the rorschach blob image yet myself that's meant to appear at 20 past and 20 to the hour.

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 09:34 (eight years ago) link

I caught it this time, it was actually at 42 minutes past.

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 09:49 (eight years ago) link

you know, i miss test patterns too, but not _that_ much.

diana krallice (rushomancy), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 09:49 (eight years ago) link

Another new video on their website (& elsewhere presumably) with a link to WASTE.

nate woolls, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:15 (eight years ago) link

There's a thing on Dead Air Space right now.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:15 (eight years ago) link

That sounds...different.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:23 (eight years ago) link

Is this gonna be the album where Jonny's soundtrack work finally wreaks havoc on the band cause I am SO DOWN for that

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:24 (eight years ago) link

Enjoying the Trumpton does Hammer Horror vibe.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:26 (eight years ago) link

Time for a new thread? Or maybe wait till we know what the thing is called for sure.

We never did a Radiohead ILX Precover, did we?

Mark G, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:34 (eight years ago) link

We would need a tracklist for that.

Although we could just make that up.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:37 (eight years ago) link

Last time out, it was announced and released within a week.

(Previous time to that, it was basically released without warning)

Mark G, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:41 (eight years ago) link

There's a thread already, been around for years, will find it in a moment...

NWOFHM! Overlord (krakow), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 11:56 (eight years ago) link

I still vote for a new one.

I just looked up some old news posts and In Rainbows was announced in a post on their blog 10 days before the album's release.
King of Limbs was announced 4 days before the album's release.

MarkoP, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 12:50 (eight years ago) link

We should expect this one to be announced ~2 days after release then

I look forward to hearing from you shortly, (Karl Malone), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 12:59 (eight years ago) link

So this is the complete video for Burn The Witch then I guess

https://youtu.be/yI2oS2hoL0k

nate woolls, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 15:16 (eight years ago) link

yorke's voice is good but the song itself is a little plodding

marcos, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 15:20 (eight years ago) link

anyways i still play in rainbows from time to time, that album is beautiful, king of limbs eh it's okay i guess, it would've been better served with different album art, the cover is complete trash

marcos, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 15:22 (eight years ago) link

Song sounds nice enough, nothing mindblowing but could be a grower. Great vid.

KoL has a good cover! suits the music well.

The mix seems a little flat but it could just be YT.

a serious and fascinating fartist (Simon H.), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 15:24 (eight years ago) link

I like this new song a lot

frogbs, Tuesday, 3 May 2016 15:25 (eight years ago) link

This sounds a bit more immediate than anything off of TKOL. Bits of it remind me of Climbing Up The Walls. Although yeah, it doesn't seem to have much in the way of dynamics. The line 'low-flying panic attack' is Yorke by numbers. I love the video though. Not sure what I'd think of the song on its own.

TARANTINO! (dog latin), Tuesday, 3 May 2016 15:38 (eight years ago) link

yeah

redolent of 'the riverbed' except without a proper development and 1/10 the tension

the chorus is kinda nice-ish

radiohead aren't making interesting music now

wow this sounds great, so much better than anything on IR or TKOL
