There is a listing for "Sparky - Numbers" on the tracks list that I think might be faulty. The single is on the label Numbers. I am guessing that the nom is supposed to be for the track "Signals".

how do write-in votes work, do they get ignored? i noticed something didn't get nominated somehow (i guess i should have actually ctrl+F'd for it), it would be in my top 5 if i can write it in

I *tend* to allow write-in votes but it's not guaranteed and if I get a bunch at the last minute I'll probably skip them.

Vote! In the ILM EOY Poll! (seandalai), Monday, 11 January 2016 23:06 (eight years ago) link

For every item that doesn't match the nominations list, I have to manually check whether it's a spelling mistake, if not find out what it is and decide whether it's eligible for inclusion. If I got more than a small number of write-ins I probably wouldn't bother.

thanks for this alessandro cortini album crut; "Conta" is devouring me from inside out right now. It's like glassier, more monolithic Eno.

I'll submit my ballot tonight in that case! :)

nerd shit (Will M.), Monday, 11 January 2016 23:48 (eight years ago) link

I VOTED

let me know if i fucked it up. i had to save the lists locally so i could see them at work, but i saved them to unicode .txt files so hopefully they're not fucked up?

#4 tracks is my sole write-in btw. I included my e-mail in case you have any questions. Thanks for running this!

We're going through the albums playlist

um

the Inverso s/t album that Forks put on the playlist caught our attention. It's pretty cool! But then we looked it up…

The album on the playlist is a 2011 s/t record by INverso.

The album calzino nominated is a 2015 s/t record by InVerso.

The former is pop punk.

The latter is jazz.

Just a heads-up.

good catch, I've fixed.

imago, if you're still doing listening, check out the Liberez, MXLX and Helm albums. Should be something you like in some of that stuff.

emil.y, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 13:44 (eight years ago) link

Am still listening!

Saw Helm live a few weeks ago and he was great (also, fairly friendly). The constraints of skim-listening to everything weren't kind to his album when encountered last night, but I will try to return to it, yes!

Not sure I've encountered those others yet...oh wait, MXLX I did hear a while back on Bandcamp, that had some great moments aye

Have you heard the new Joanna Wang? I know you've voted for her in the past...

sounding like a silly Iain Banks on a track (imago), Tuesday, 12 January 2016 14:09 (eight years ago) link

No, not heard yet. I have way more than 25 things in contention already so kind of feel like if I hear something first in '16 it shouldn't make the list, but will have a listen anyway if it's great. (And I have broken that rule in the past, definitely.)

emil.y, Tuesday, 12 January 2016 14:28 (eight years ago) link

(It's completely amazing and straight in my own top 5 fwiw)

Last-minute plug for some of my noms that are not on Spotify:

Zomes - Networks Album 2: Phase Portraits: algorithmically generated electronic music that became one of my default going-to-bed choices.
ADR - Deceptionista: probably described better on the page than I could do but enjoyable Internet sample-based electronic composition

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 00:07 (eight years ago) link

Sevish - Rhythm and Xen: microtonal IDM/chiptune stuff

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 00:10 (eight years ago) link

All just things that somehow clicked with me; dunno how well they transfer.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 00:12 (eight years ago) link

Biggest discovery from going through the Spotify playlist is how amazing the Dumblonde album is.

Just finished going through the tracks list yesterday. Made a shortlist of everything I enjoyed. Just got to narrow those 146 songs down to 25 and I'm done. Albums should be a lot easier.

Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 13 January 2016 00:18 (eight years ago) link

Whoa! RA - Scandinavia is some of the best post-punk of recent years. Utterly incendiary. Really nice nomination, uh….oh it's you, DAM. Whoda thunk etc :D

sounding like a silly Iain Banks on a track (imago), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 00:57 (eight years ago) link

Sund4r, the ADR album is on Spotify (USA) after all. Glad you mentioned it, I'm also a fan.

fka styx (paul santa cruz), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 01:52 (eight years ago) link

Yeah, I like that RA album bunches! xp

Ⓓⓡ. (Johnny Fever), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 02:05 (eight years ago) link

Props go to Fastnbulbous; I found the RA album on his year list on RYM. 'Incendiary' is the word, though; it's a face-melter

whoa this Ron Gallipoli stuff is awesome

sounding like a silly Iain Banks on a track (imago), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 15:25 (eight years ago) link

and double whoa I know a certain person nominated it but I hadn't heard the czarface record yet and it's straight up amazing. know I'm gonna get clowned to fuck for this but when all the cool rap critics abandoned this shit to vote for drake repeatedly in pazz & jop they forsook the righteous path and they forsook hip-hop

Yeah, I'm really bad at campaigning...

Non-Stop Erotic Calculus (bmus), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 20:54 (eight years ago) link

Forks, still the wrong Inverso. The one you've added to the playlist appears to be a Spanish-language Nickelback, not an Italian jazz duo. But it's ok. We've finished skimming every single album in the playlist. Something that all of you should have done before voting. Even the ones without free time.

sounding like a silly Iain Banks on a track (imago), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 23:41 (eight years ago) link

Is the roll-out going be like normal (i.e., tracks rolling out on Monday, albums the Monday after that)?

Rod Steel (musicfanatic), Wednesday, 13 January 2016 23:53 (eight years ago) link

That's the plan.

xp to imago: seriously? crazy that there are two bands with recently released self titled albums called inverso on spotify and neither of them are the right one!
