'our ambition is to get fucking jet lag' seems like an achievable goal, good work lads

bizarro gazzara, Thursday, 23 July 2015 09:06 (eight years ago) link

two separate Mirror articles in 4 days! wtf..

baffling all this chat about touring being a lad's holiday and a party and a laugh. going in with that attitude you'd be shattered by the 2nd week let alone the 2nd album.

Also LOL at the idea that they should be applauded for playing a gig for £100.

'fined for trashing a hotel room while listening to the Sex Pistols' is almost unbearably sad. imagine johnny rotten tearing shit up to a soundtrack of the inkspots or glenn miller

The bad boy rockers' single doesn't have very much swagger. It sounds like the Real People or something.

I had a couple of The Real People early 12 inches/EPs and think I even saw them live but without googling I have absolutely no idea what any of their songs are or what they sound like (other than - I'm guessing - jangly, indie pop).

You what?

http://www.theaquarian.com/2015/06/17/shoreworld-acid-tales-of-contempt/

Bobby Kennedy’s Acid is a powerhouse combo of attitude past and extraordinarily present. With nuances of British punk and Smart Aleck barbs of alt-rock tongue-in-cheek, Kennedy weaves a dark and majestically diverse composite of original material. Flying miles above the current landscape of narcissistic hipsters and talentless divas, Kennedy’s sound is like an F-22 Raptor on its way to drop a payload full of rock and roll pandemonium on the latest “Bier” garden.

I've heard of the rest of them, but who are these "The Beatles"?

Featuring 10 no-nonsense gems, Tales Of Contempt flows in seamless and mayhem-driven continuity. If you’re a fan of bands such as Love And Rockets, The Plimsouls, The Godfathers, The Beatles, The Damned and The Presidents Of The United States Of America, Tales Of Contempt is a record you’re going to want to revisit on a regular basis.

Do these people form a band with the manifesto of being "like, the BEST indie band there's ever been" as a deliberate effort to reach the platonic essence of indiebollocks, or is it subconscious / accidental?

What exactly do you call this haircut that they all keep getting? "Give me the Liam Gallagher/Paul Weller/Johnny Marr/etc."? Long in the front, waaay longer on the sides, spiky in the back, kinda licked down on top.

Ah, Sheffield (and Chesterfield in this case). It is always the place, and always will be for the best of Brit indie rock. No exception to this phenomenon are young four-piece The Time Sellers, currently relentlessly gigging the area, with a solid sound and an already impressive catalogue of tunes on SoundCloud.

Taking inspiration and adapting from some of the traditional mod-rockers of times gone by, such as The Libertines, The Jam and The Stone Roses, The Time Sellers highlight the rising fresh take on British rock for a new generation and times. Recently unveiling two new tracks, ‘Apathy (Take You Out)’ and ‘Wait’, the band successfully prove how musical styles can diversify, through reinforcing and maturing their heavy guitar style with prominent catchy hooks – no better heard than in the moody, ‘Apathy’.

Drawling out; “I wait on your reply/And you constantly let me down”, vocalist James Bull kicks into a funky groove before hitting us with the cynicism and angst of teenage romance and its trials and tribulations. There is a clear pattern within the tracks of The Time Sellers, who effectively build their songs on an often deceiving, charming and collected verse structure, before blasting out a rush of raw energy and passion in the chorus – with the harsh vocals and thrash guitar segments – reminding us of their raw passion and gritty influences.

While some of us may roll our eyes at yet another Sheffield band, The Time Sellers have created a unique and sophisticated sound to rise above the mass of generic indie jumble, setting themselves up for a promising year ahead.

To be fair, I don't see how this might be different from your average metal band or deep house DJ or what have you.

lol at the cameo appearance by the guy who plays the vet in Emmerdale. we should have a thread for the most underwhelming 'celebrity' cameos in pop videos, Neil Kinnock in Tracey Ullman's 'My Guy' etc
