Guy on the left is bona fide wearing a tank top, right? That looks like it has diamonds on, yeah?

Fucking hell.

"We're doing an Abbey Road, Right?"

"Aren't you supposed to have no shoes on?"

"Shush."

Mark G, Friday, 12 June 2015 12:12 (eight years ago) link

Actually, the Cheboza pic looks right by being very wrong indeed and out the other side.

I'll avoid disappointment by not hearing any music, of course.

wrong thread

Long-awaited and feverishly anticipated, Wolf Alice’s debut album My Love Is Cool comes with lofty expectations. Fittingly, then, it’s a record that reaches for the stratosphere. Equal parts gigantic guitars and wistful, wilting beauty, My Love Is Cool is a timeless collection of songs that outways any preconceived notions of what Wolf Alice are, or can be.

"outways"

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Friday, 19 June 2015 08:48 (eight years ago) link

A eclectic set of influences from 90's Brit pop Ocean Colour Scene and Oasis to 1960s Mod/Pop such as The Small Faces, The Beatles and The Who has led to a collective effort on song writing duties which draws on all of these but puts a new , fresh take on these styles.

With a blossoming live reputation that has taken in shows at the iconic King Tuts Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow, 2015 promises to be a big year for this hard working and well dressed outfit.

feargal czukay (NickB), Friday, 19 June 2015 11:35 (eight years ago) link

that is perhaps the least eclectic set of influences imaginable

bizarro gazzara, Friday, 19 June 2015 11:49 (eight years ago) link

Still, at least they are well dressed, that's the main thing.

anvil, Friday, 19 June 2015 12:35 (eight years ago) link

Originally they were called Hard Working Families until Dermo said his sunglasses were his family and he could fuck off with talking about his rich dad he was just in the right place at the right time the jammy bastard

i could see this thread ultimately yielding a poll to determine this, pretty sure every third to fifth bio has a line like this one

Keith Moom (Neil S), Friday, 19 June 2015 20:23 (eight years ago) link

I find the limited vocabulary that these bands use to choose their names from as fascinating as their emphasis on clothes, haircuts and '60s fetishism.

Not the drummer

Seaside Sons look great. Another shot:

Note that their clocks are always set to 20 past 1, just part of the enigma of the Ayrshire rockers.

A touch of random glamour:

20 past 1 again!:

I doubt she is though.

Campbell Sproat! How Ayrshire can you get!

Seaside Sons started with long-time friends Jason Skimming & Craig McGinn getting together to write songs to play as an acoustic act in 2012. It wasn’t long before they started to build a following and realised that it was time to take the music to the next level. In October of 2013, experienced guitarist Pav Cathcart and seasoned drummer Campbell Sproat both formerly of Nelson Gem, joined the band.

The Manner of Crawly (Tom D.), Friday, 19 June 2015 23:14 (eight years ago) link

I think I remember a newsagents called Sproats in Kilmarnock back in the day.

Ayrshire, home of the Lumpen Presyteriat (xp)

The Manner of Crawly (Tom D.), Friday, 19 June 2015 23:43 (eight years ago) link

Oops, Lumpen Presbyteriat.

The Manner of Crawly (Tom D.), Friday, 19 June 2015 23:44 (eight years ago) link

i dunno i reckon i see a touch of scots physiognomy in her. but yeah, it's a fine touch that since you're not even progressive enough to have the token female indie bassist (have there been any women in the photos of thread at all??) you have to bring in some random hot babe™ to fill the gap in the photo shoot.

Merdeyeux, Friday, 19 June 2015 23:46 (eight years ago) link

Scots maybe, a fairly disparate bunch to be sure, but not Ayrshire.

The Manner of Crawly (Tom D.), Friday, 19 June 2015 23:52 (eight years ago) link

"no chicks" is second only to "button your coat right up to the neck" in terms of the immutable commandments of the genre.

everything, Friday, 19 June 2015 23:54 (eight years ago) link

lol watching the Seaside Sons video

fuckin Liam Gallagher has a lot to answer for, teaching a generation of these dork singers that standing stock still with your hands behind your back is "stage presence" and "swagger", boring ass

kurt kobaïan (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 22 June 2015 15:37 (eight years ago) link
