What Oasis still represent to this wide spectrum of people is that idea of a band doing things completely on their own terms and triumphing over ”manufactured” music. Oasis didn’t even make a dedicated video for Some Might Say (Liam didn’t turn up to the shoot, and a clip had to be cobbled together from footage shot for Cigarettes and Alcohol). Nor did they, unlike the supposedly more alternative-minded likes of Blur and Pulp, utilise that most execrable of 90s fan-extortion tactics – the multi-edition CD single – to pump up its chart position. They didn’t, it turned out, need to play either of these games. Their songs and their attitude was enough.

At the more specialist end of the media scale, consider also that NME – a magazine that is in theory primarily for teenagers keen to discover the hottest new bands – has published three Noel Gallagher covers already this year, and 21 Oasis-related covers in the six or so years since they ceased to exist.

Yeah, we've noticed, as have the countless number of people that complain about it online every time it happens.

can't wait to see if the complaints cease the oasis covers

Spoiler: they won't.

wait so Catfish and the Blowfish are an actual band that people are supposed to actually like? I thought they were just some no-marks off of this thread

Do I get a prize for spotting that the first pic ("skateboarding" idiot and his three chums) was taken on London Bridge? No, I though not!

The current band line up of Daniel Allison (Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar), Ben Wapples (Lead Guitar), Joe Fowley (Bass /Backing Vocals), Steve Regan (Keyboards /Backing Vocals) and Andrew Berry (Drums /Percussion) formed just over eighteen months ago and their explosive live performances around the country have seen them build an ever increasing fan base. Taking their inspiration and attitude from the likes of Artic Monkeys, Sleaford Mods, The pigeon Detectives and Peace, the new EP will see New Vinyl more than confirm their growing reputation as one of the most exciting bands around right now.

"New Vinyl sound like a band with an instinctive understanding of who they are, where they're going and brimming with the confidence and sharpness that's as much about time together as it is talent..."

- Yorkshire Weekly

Band Bio

Masses of uncertainty in the world and yet almost weekly, new civilian movements choose to make their voices heard.

Such determination transcends language and yet speaks to the underdog in all of us. This strength of spirit forms the undercurrent that carries the sound of Wakefield’s New Vinyl.

Formed in 2003, New Vinyl has determination in spades.

New Vinyl released their debut single in 2008 selling more copies than Oasis in their local HMV.

Previously under the management of one Gail Porter, New Vinyl stepped briefly into the breech with appearances on BBC Radio Leeds, Absolute Radio and Leeds Festival’s Unsigned stage, as well as having three songs used by Sky Sports to rock their Rugby League coverage.

Gail strongly believed in New Vinyl and managed to get the band mentioned in several national newspapers (The Sun, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Telegraph, Metro and The Daily Star) and on daytime shows such as Loose Women, GMTV and The Wright Stuff. Good exposure? Definitely. To the right audience? Perhaps not.

More recently the focus has been gigs, gigs and more gigs; that sense of urgency that underpins the music clearly comes from the band members themselves.

Now, as the uncertainty surrounds us, New Vinyl pushes its head above the chaos, New Vinyl’s approach is, ‘let’s make it happen’

What do you think it will take for guitar music to make a comeback?

Noel-Gallagher 75 points 6 hours ago
Somebody to write some fucking great songs.
That's all it'll ever take.
That's all it takes. People can talk about "attitude," and "spirit" and fucking good-looking guys in bands, and vibe, and fucking blah-blah-blah. I dare ANYBODY from the next generation to write one decent chorus.
Yeah.
Just one.

Formed in 2011 from the ashes of three bands the life-long friends have now set about bringing their own unique passionate, enigmatic and sleazy twist on Rock n Roll. During their short time together the powerful five piece band have played to packed crowds throughout the UK and have received critical acclaim from some of the biggest names in the music industry. Now they find themselves with the world at their feet and with their swagger, self-belief, catchy songs and an unstoppable desire to entertain.

They're playing some menacing, addictive and anthemic Rock 'n' Roll, in an Oasis stylee certainly but with their own very firmly placed stamp on it......and news just in is.....they've been nominated for Best Alt/Indie act in the Scottish National Music Awards which will delight their large local following

A truly exciting band who have been likened to some of the shining lights of UK indie, Vida are a British four piece who are going places. Drawing comparisons to a wide ranging indie catalogue, including the likes of Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, The Black Keys, Miles Kane and more, their growing reputation has seen them garnering recognition from some of the country’s top tastemakers.

Their new single is a double A-side release showing two of the different sides of the group. First, ‘Electric Lady’ tells the story of repeated overnight stays with the same girl after meeting on several nights out, and the awkwardness that follows the next morning. Meanwhile, ‘Fade Away’ speaks of a completely different kind of awkward – finding yourself in the same room as an ex…
