DJ Martian!!!!! holy smokes

TracerHandVEVO (Tracer Hand), Friday, 10 April 2015 12:41 (nine years ago) link

yep the synths and production are so special, this track is highly Addictive

Spotify link: What So Not - Gemini ft. George Maple
https://open.spotify.com/track/6sjtHq6EueMR7otphregK5

the track is Austrlian, so maybe many brits and americans are unaware yet

djmartian, Friday, 10 April 2015 12:47 (nine years ago) link

That should be AUSTRALIAN !

djmartian, Friday, 10 April 2015 12:49 (nine years ago) link

this is the greatest broods track ever

katherine, Sunday, 12 April 2015 02:08 (nine years ago) link

I heard this the other day because I have a George Maple alert on Spotify, but I'm listening to it again more intently right now. Very good!

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 12 April 2015 03:41 (nine years ago) link

I've been enjoying the Allie X "release", CollXion I. There's a clumsy Sia-esque metaphor used on "Tumor" (and the melody bares strong similarities to "Unconditionally"), but otherwise it's pretty much all fire

bae sremmurd (monotony), Tuesday, 21 April 2015 00:23 (nine years ago) link

Been really enjoying this feel good jam the last few weeks

Greer, Thursday, 30 April 2015 13:48 (nine years ago) link

surprised that as far as i can see there's been no mention of the moroder x britney "tom's diner" on ilx yet??? it's amazing and perfect

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2015 14:50 (nine years ago) link

ilm favorites fall out boy have ruined "tom's diner" forever for me with their heinous song

dyl, Thursday, 30 April 2015 14:55 (nine years ago) link

apparently it has been discussed somewhat on the giorgio moroder thread

dyl, Thursday, 30 April 2015 14:59 (nine years ago) link

they've covered it???? ewwwww i never want to hear it

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2015 14:59 (nine years ago) link

they inexplicably interpolated it in their last hit song ("centuries")

dyl, Thursday, 30 April 2015 15:01 (nine years ago) link

reason #9349392931 never to listen to fall out boy i guess. i adore almost every interpolation of "tom's diner" i've heard, trust them to be the ones to get it wrong

lex pretend, Thursday, 30 April 2015 15:07 (nine years ago) link

lol y'all

it's amazing and perfect

This is honestly the first favorable opinion I've seen expressed about it anywhere.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 30 April 2015 15:21 (nine years ago) link

it's a great idea executed too straightforwardly to be interesting

liked the kylie song from the moroder record tho

I like "Centuries" quite a lot but i dig that Fall Out Boy's brand of emodramatics isn't for everyone
Britney's Tom's Diner was discussed in the Moroder thread briefly
i don't know what to make of it except that it
1) isn't terrible exactly
2) is tremendously unnecessary

Premise ridiculous. Who have two potato? (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 30 April 2015 18:33 (nine years ago) link

i don't think this has been posted anywhere, but what does everyone think of hilary's new single?

j. winters (josh), Thursday, 30 April 2015 20:44 (nine years ago) link

between this and the new adam lambert single i have to wonder why the pop powers that be are trying to bring the whistling gimmick back

or maybe it never really went away huh

I love the album from this duo of twin french-cuban singers who mainly sing in Yoruba. Art-pop, a tad too much chamber-piano but there some complimenting cuban percussions and a r&b vibe. Great stuff.

Ah, and I managed to forgot. They're Ibeyi. same title.

boxedjoy, Tuesday, 19 May 2015 21:25 (nine years ago) link

the rita ora comeback is sadly nowhere near the triumph of "i will never let you down"

bae sremmurd (monotony), Tuesday, 19 May 2015 21:32 (nine years ago) link

I listened to it 2 or 3 times on Sunday and I've already forgotten how it goes.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 19 May 2015 21:33 (nine years ago) link

strong infectious bouncy track

ASTR - Activate Me (Darkchild Mix)
https://soundcloud.com/astrtv/activate-me-darkchild-mix

in a dj mix this could be followed with that ace track from upthread, What So Not - Gemini ft. George Maple - that Rinse FM are finally playing.

Attention !

the best uptempo electro-pop album of the year has arrived and it's an addictive aural treasure trove - mixture of male and various female vocals, you must listen. the male vocalist Michael Pope has been compared to Devo.

released in ireland in April, Le Galaxie – Le Club has finally been added to Spotify UK

album link:

Spotify - Le Galaxie – Le Club

blogger, Nialler 9 has a superb review

Album of the week: Le Galaxie – Le Club
http://nialler9.com/album-of-the-week-le-galaxie-le-club/

The music is still aesthetically ’80s-referencing neon-electro, but with more peaks and troughs (aided by clear cut physically-felt mixing by sometime DFA/LCD engineer Eric Brouchek). ......

Even when the music does overtly sound like an alternative soundtrack to Back To The Future, French electro or the night-time street theatre of Drive, it is always fun, transportive and designed to make you move. And, this time around there’s an increasing sense of occasion.

Le Club is a rare thing, an album of joyous bangers that works in any environment, le club, the festival and your headphones.

another review:

Le Galaxie – Le Club
http://thelastmixedtape.com/2015/04/28/le-galaxie-le-club/

Le Club is an album about excess. The length, the production, the sound, the stylization, the atmosphere of the record is extravagantly bold. Beats, synth lines and vocals are thrust into a dominating foreground that insists itself upon the listener from beginning to end. The entire record buzzes with excitement, rarely pausing for breath.......

Brilliantly bold and true to its convictions Le Club is an album of pure kinetic energy. The album conveys abandon, limitless creativity and invention all held together by Le Galaxie’s daring ambition. It’s not perfect, at times it is down right messy, but as with all excess that seems to be the point.

the album has 14 tracks, i have selected 5 tracks to be added to the thread spotify playlist:

Le Galaxie - Put the Chain On
https://open.spotify.com/track/2YNC4jczfVTnf3w3yJmkoX

Le Galaxie - Streetheart
https://open.spotify.com/track/4zfi2Yct0dVqPkGSIqFouH

Le Galaxie - Le Club
https://open.spotify.com/track/5xvvvdXqK4lwY74bSDnye9

Le Galaxie - Tell me Twice
https://open.spotify.com/track/6XF5CnrxzQWRnMGW8i8mPS
probably my fav track on the album, a hi energy electro banger with strong female vocals, from Senita Appiakorang

Le Galaxie - A.M L.A

I only discovered the Foxes album a few months ago so have been playing it a lot lately. There's also some good remixes of the singles.

Looking forward to her new album.

Does pop here mean "hit" and/or "Top 40"? If so, I like the current Weekend and Ne-Yo/Pitbull songs a lot, something increasingly rare for me these days. If this belongs on another thread, sorry, I'll know next time.

clemenza, Sunday, 7 June 2015 16:15 (eight years ago) link

i would say it doesn't have to be a hit, but top 40 hits like those two are def fair game

DUDE the hilary duff album just leaked and i just finished it and it's actually pretty good! the first 3-4 tracks make for a strong opener, and the duet here is a rare one in that it's actually pretty great and essential. i suggest y'all give it a listen!

j. winters (josh), Friday, 12 June 2015 05:51 (eight years ago) link

i like the duet a lot despite his awful voice. lindy robbins writes such good melodies.
"my kind" was my fave even though it's just a weaker version of becky g's "can't stop dancing". sucker for that vibe
"breathe in. breathe out.", "arms around a memory" and "brave heart" are also all pretty good. everything else seemed pretty tragic?

adam lambert's new album is fucking incredible to me btw. mostly serious-face-pop but just sooooo well done ("another lonely night" is like the best thing i've ever heard; love the sheer drama of "rumors"). hooks on top of hooks. and then the closing bonus track "these boys" goes against that vibe entirely and it's soooo exuberant and groovy and i want to dance to it forever

uberweiss, Friday, 12 June 2015 18:56 (eight years ago) link

also "after hours" could've been on the xx's first album & i love it

feel good, uptempo track
