Seconding toon's listing of White Noise - An Electric Storm In Hell. I was just going to say that.

briania, Thursday, 13 May 2004 18:29 (twenty years ago) link

Christian Death "Dogs": a nasty sounding track that used to make me think a guy with a Halloween mask and a meat cleaver was in my closet.

Thrill Kill Kult "Confessions of a Knife": listened to this the first time I did acid and actually saw the individual mentioned above, also tried to attack someone I didn't like at a party two hours later with a kitchen knife, but was subdued by several friends, not sure if the record had anything to do with it (drugs are bad).

The only thing I was mildly scared by was some of haino's vocals on PSF 15/16- but it was more scared for him than by him.

15. Matmos - A Chance to Cut Is a Chance to Cure

After gaining the trust and cooperation of surgeons and patients, the band was allowed to record in operating rooms and clinics. Back in the studio, Matmos performed surgery of their own upon the sounds they had gathered, building rhythms from the clanks, rasps and snips of the scalpel, kick drums from the sound of bones being broken, and rich drones from the buzz of human skin conducting electricity through acupuncture points.

"4. Public Image Ltd., Second Edition"

But isn't that more "shake your ass in the dark" rather than "scare the shit out of yourself"? Well, no matter. It could be both I guess.
