pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 6 January 2014 21:41 (ten years ago) link

and everyone can vote for them from now on obviously!

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 6 January 2014 21:43 (ten years ago) link

and if anyone wishes to resubmit a tracks ballot then they can. We will accept the last ballot from everyone so dont worry if you have voted before.
Also anyone who voted for albums and not tracks can still send in a tracks ballot.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 6 January 2014 21:45 (ten years ago) link

maybe you should extend the deadline a few days? That might help to bring some more ballots in.

Viceroy, Monday, 6 January 2014 21:48 (ten years ago) link

also, some awesome shoegazy/atmospheric black metal:

Paysage d'Hiver - Das Tor
http://youtu.be/QeWQrrCN8jU

They're also on spotify but the physical release of Das Tor was "Strictly limited to 300 hand numbered cassettes." So you know it's fvking trv cvlt.

Viceroy, Monday, 6 January 2014 22:08 (ten years ago) link

even though I heard that apparently atmospheric black metal is "over."

Viceroy, Monday, 6 January 2014 22:08 (ten years ago) link

cant extend it due to the big poll timeframe

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 6 January 2014 22:11 (ten years ago) link

Usnea is spelled wrong in the voting at top.

Nate Carson, Monday, 6 January 2014 23:07 (ten years ago) link

cheers. Seandalai might want the typos to be uniform then he will change it for the results as I think it works out easier for him that way.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Monday, 6 January 2014 23:37 (ten years ago) link

spreadsheet updated with tracks. Thanks seandalai!

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:05 (ten years ago) link

I re-voted.

You shouldn't make t so you have to vote for tracks or albums if you don't want. My tracks aren't tracks but a comment broken into lines so I could submit it.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:08 (ten years ago) link

I don't understand? You can vote for albums but not tracks if you want and vice versa.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:20 (ten years ago) link

Unless seandalai changed it?

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:21 (ten years ago) link

I didn't vote for tracks.. too much for me.

SeanWayne, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:41 (ten years ago) link

It said I had to put something in the tracks field in order to submit.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:42 (ten years ago) link

I had tracks the first time but I changed my mind. When I resubmitted it says both fields are required.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:43 (ten years ago) link

Maybe you're not getting the ballots in cuz of the Google password needed to see the spread sheet.. Maybe its turned some folks off. idk. I could gives a fuck about a spreadsheet. I went analog and wrote my shit down with a pen and paper first.. lol! remember those?!?

SeanWayne, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:45 (ten years ago) link

I didn't need to put anything in the tracks box.. I voted really early though

SeanWayne, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 01:46 (ten years ago) link

Maybe you're not getting the ballots in cuz of the Google password needed to see the spread sheet..

You shouldn't need to sign in to see the nominations spreadsheet, if that's what you mean?

I've changed the form so you can leave the tracks bit blank - I had misunderstood the intention here, sorry.

I think more people should be talking about the Obliteration album, "Black Death Horizon".

Yes, this is good!

Siegbran, Tuesday, 7 January 2014 09:53 (ten years ago) link

a beef supreme (dog latin), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 11:18 (ten years ago) link

Cheers Dl! we're up to 15 ballots now.. Thank you!

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Tuesday, 7 January 2014 14:23 (ten years ago) link

Chucked my virgin ballot into the volcano.

Death Angel is listed as Dark Angel, btw. Being much more a fan of the latter than the former, I went into a momentary google tizzy.

Also, it didn't make my top ten, but if anyone has been displeased with Satyricon since Volcano and wishes to find a suitable taker upper of that sound, Sonic Reign's Monument in Black is a stormer. So good are they that I excuse the borderline plagiarism of that other band's "Fuel for Hatred" and "Possessed" in this tune:

Wolf People - Fain
Psych/prog and proto-metal influences rooted in obscure Finnish psych, Mighty Baby, Dark, Groundhogs and The Trees. Along similar lines are fellow UK band Hidden Masters, who I've been obsessed with the past couple weeks but I didn't nominate them because they're not as heavy.

Sorry, at first I embedded because I didn't realize there was supposed to be a separate thread for that. But now with so few days left until the end, and the relative inactivity of this thread, it didn't seem to matter anymore.

Argus - Beyond The Martyrs

http://youtu.be/KJHCwRYBFrY

Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 18:34 (ten years ago) link

Hailing from the fertile metallic landscapes of Pennsylvania, Argus is releasing their third and best album on the Italian metal label that was founded in 2003, and was once the home of Slough Feg and other like minded bands. Unlike Argus’ first two consistently strong albums, doom is less of a factor on Beyond The Martyrs, emphasizing their twin guitar interplay, and mixing in the epic with the darkness. The band were named from a vision Eric Johnson had of Argus Panoptes, the mythological primordial giant with a hundred eyes. Several bands have taken up that name, but this is the one most worthy of it.

Viceroy, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 23:19 (ten years ago) link

God placement is so hard, I'm really struggling on my ballot.

Viceroy, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 23:20 (ten years ago) link

OK I finally got my ballots in! a full 50 for the albums and a top 10 for tracks! weeeee!

Viceroy, Thursday, 9 January 2014 00:54 (ten years ago) link

I am voting but all this does is make me feel bad for all the albums I didn't hear this year.

or on the bright side all the albums you can still check out!

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:13 (ten years ago) link

I assume just put it in order from top to bottom then?

Loud guitars shit all over "Bette Davis Eyes" (NYCNative), Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:20 (ten years ago) link

Well, that's how I did it.

You did it right (except I'm surprised Attila was your #1)

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Thursday, 9 January 2014 16:47 (ten years ago) link

I was worried our longtime lurker voter Cronos Smith was not going to vote this year but I was pleasantly surprised to see he has overnight.
