am0n, Saturday, 5 May 2007 06:38 (seventeen years ago) link

I think SAWII is the only classic of the entire bunch for me.

Try dancing to THIS you fuckers!

LOL annoying cunty attitude.

braveclub, Saturday, 5 May 2007 08:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Cos obviously anyone who wants to *dance* to electronic music is, y'know, stupid or something.

braveclub, Saturday, 5 May 2007 08:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Despite being a twat last night, I are still WARP 4 LIFE, mufferfukkaz.

Todayz 5:

1. Aphex Twin - SAW II
2. Autechre - LP5
3. Prefuse 73 - Vocal Studies
4. Aphex Again - RDJ Ablum
5. 2 Lone Swordsmen - Tiny Reminders

List subject to change during next 10 minutes.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 5 May 2007 10:09 (seventeen years ago) link

I could've voted for A Word Of Science or Blech, but I picked Stay Down by Two Lone Swordsmen. Where's the love for that record? I love it how it's both trippy and melancholy, like Mouse on Mars on depressants. Though the EP that preceded it (A Bag of Blue Sparks) is maybe even better.

Tuomas, Saturday, 5 May 2007 11:10 (seventeen years ago) link

this blech was better than the CD release (although both are great)

jed_, Saturday, 5 May 2007 13:40 (seventeen years ago) link

Speaking of Blech, who the hell was DJ Mink? I don't think I've ever heard anything by him except "Hey Hey Can You Relate", which is great.

Tuomas, Saturday, 5 May 2007 14:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Maximo Park are on Warp? Weird.

chap, Saturday, 5 May 2007 14:10 (seventeen years ago) link

yes, all the 'Darkstar' samples - made me love that movie (xpost)

blueski, Saturday, 5 May 2007 14:11 (seventeen years ago) link

i didnt realize people were hating on frequencies. wow. so LFO jumped the shark before the first album?

i am going with haunted dancehall just because i love the vibe created there

artdamages, Saturday, 5 May 2007 14:49 (seventeen years ago) link

looking at the catalogue their post millenial releases are embarrassing for all involved.

artdamages, Saturday, 5 May 2007 14:50 (seventeen years ago) link

RONG

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 5 May 2007 14:54 (seventeen years ago) link

chloe sevigny was already dirty, but my point stands

artdamages, Saturday, 5 May 2007 15:09 (seventeen years ago) link

At least 2 brilliant Squarepusher albums,Geogaddi, Prefuse's first album, Chris Clarke, 2 Lone Swordsmen, Broadcast, a lot of stuff that I'm fond of but isn't v. crowd-pleasing like Mira Calix and Autechre's recent albums. There's plenty there that's debatable but it's hardly embarrassing.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 5 May 2007 15:11 (seventeen years ago) link

hardly embrassing to whom? it can be embarrassing to me if i'd like it to be.

i like prefuse and boards of canada fine, sort of bored by broadcast and don't like squarepusher. surely there is no excitement about WARP as an entity. i mean, its not really surpising their recent releases are lackluster. that is the lifecycle of a label. i'm not mad at them.

artdamages, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:01 (seventeen years ago) link

the last 2 lone swordsman kind of sucked too.

artdamages, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:02 (seventeen years ago) link

I think one person was hating on Frequencies? That record is CLASSIC. And Tommy Boy's releasing it and 808 State in the US finally introduced techno to america, otherwise Techno would've forever stayed a strictly british phenomenon.

dan selzer, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:31 (seventeen years ago) link

haunted dancehall for teh win

stet, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:42 (seventeen years ago) link

i voted for campfire headphase ^___^

am0n, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:44 (seventeen years ago) link

haha haunted dancehall v the new battles album FITE!

CharlieNo4, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:46 (seventeen years ago) link

wow warp is actually more boring than i thought

lex pretend, Saturday, 5 May 2007 16:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Dry and trainspottery is kinda Warp's schtick now more than ever.

Noodle Vague, Saturday, 5 May 2007 20:02 (seventeen years ago) link

the last 2 lone swordsman kind of sucked too.

new one is dreadful

braveclub, Sunday, 6 May 2007 17:50 (seventeen years ago) link

This is hard just because of the number of records, and the differences. To me Warp's history falls into 3 periods:

Bleep and Bass - my choice, Frequencies
Electronic listening period - my choice, Succor by Seefeel
Recent 'eclectic' period - my choice, Work and non Work by Broadcast

Anyway, I went for the Classics comp

I love shit that makes you want to dance but leaves you little possibility to. See also Leeds, UK based skronk rockers Bilge Pump.

elecktroids deserved at least 1 vote

resolved, Monday, 7 May 2007 10:21 (seventeen years ago) link

A predictable winner then. Glad to see Advance and Frequencies both do well.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Pfunkboy, Monday, 7 May 2007 19:14 (seventeen years ago) link

jess, you don't like lp5?

Turangalila, Tuesday, 8 May 2007 05:49 (seventeen years ago) link

my housemate was playing the Plone album just yesterday and if anything it still sounds amazing

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Monday, 17 April 2017 00:05 (seven years ago) link

DL - Have you heard the second Plone album, it's a really evolved sound, almost reminds me more of pre-Mum at times.

Heard new Clark album this weekend and "Butterfly Prowler" and "Peak Magnetic" are the stand out tracks. His formula seems a bit predictable in that he has way too many ideas lobbed on top of some tracks that are also trying to make you move. Doesn't quite work for me.

I kinda forgot that Flying Lotus, Rustie, and Hudson Mohawke are on Warp.

change display name (Jordan), Monday, 17 April 2017 20:45 (seven years ago) link

Feel like Broadcast would place higher if this was re-polled
