for the record, if you're not actually advocating hitting women, then A+ trolling, would be trolled again. but, if you are - why stop at punching? why not stab rihanna in the gut? why not sever her leg? you took my dick, i'm taking your leg!! etc.

i'm just o_O at the idea of buying a q-tip smeared with gonnorhea especially because now that you've suggested it the existence of such a thing for purchase seems eminently plausible

"qTip has gonorrhea? great rumors on this thread"
Shhh don't tell his girlfriend!
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:39 (fifteen years ago) link
Here's how it went down, according to the police report. After Chris received a text message from a woman who wrote about getting together, an argument erupted. By the way, initially, Rihanna would not tell cops what started the argument.
She did, however, tell them that during the argument, he started hitting her. According to the police report, she ordered him to drive her home and "faked a call" to someone, saying things like, "He's dropping me off. Make sure the cops are there."
Rihanna told cops the fake call enraged Brown. He said something to the effect of "You are really fu**ed up now. I'm going to kill you." This statement is the basis of the criminal threats charge.
At that point, according to the report, Brown allegedly began a violent attack with his fists. At some point, Rihanna took the keys out of the ignition and threw them outside.
And there's this. According to the police report, she told cops this was not the first time Brown hit her. She referred to it as an ongoing and escalating abusive relationship.
We're told the criminal threats charge is based on that one statement Brown allegedly made. As one law enforcement source told us, "It's kinda weak, and the D.A. is not going to prosecute a high profile case like this unless it's solid." That's why it was kicked back for further investigation.
Given the brutal nature of the attack, which the photos clearly show -- contusions on the face, swollen eyes, cut lip, bloody nose, bite marks on fingers and arm -- a felony domestic battery charge is virtually a done deal. That, however, is a less serious offense than making criminal threats.
― happy house of representatives (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:40 (fifteen years ago) link
hey I'm not advocating domestic violence - hitting anyone is wrong - but "never hit a woman" is really sexist. I mean, the implication is that women are incapable of defending themselves/meek/inferior... and what if some really buff and/or crazy chick attacks you? Should you not defend yourself because she's a woman and you "never hit women"?
― someone who seems to only rep for ghastly prefab autotuned pop (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:41 (fifteen years ago) link
"That, however, is a less serious offense than making criminal threats."

― Alex in SF, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:42 (fifteen years ago) link
You shouldn't hit anyone because they "gave" you herpes.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:43 (fifteen years ago) link
xxpost - I don't think anyone is pushing that angle though.
― Tim F, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:43 (fifteen years ago) link
that's weird that "beating the shit out of a woman" is less serious as a charge than "making a threat"
― memo from norv turner (omar little), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:43 (fifteen years ago) link
If you are being attacked by a crazy buff chick you have my permission to beat the shit out of her, Brainwasher.
― Alex in SF, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:44 (fifteen years ago) link
I mean that's assuming you can. Me I'd just run.
right xp "i was going to threaten to kill you, but instead i'm just going to punch you into the hospital"
― happy house of representatives (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:44 (fifteen years ago) link
where did you get that from? there are so many different "official" stories that I'm not necessarily inclined to believe this one...
― someone who seems to only rep for ghastly prefab autotuned pop (The Brainwasher), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:45 (fifteen years ago) link
I kind of get the logic behind making threats to kill someone a very serious offense that carries more of a penalty than battery that doesn't cause serious or lasting injury.
I don't know US laws though - my first question would be whether a non-domestic battery of this nature would attract a greater penalty than a domestic battery.
― Tim F, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:45 (fifteen years ago) link
tmz xp
― happy house of representatives (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:46 (fifteen years ago) link
domestic battery carries a harsher penalty afaik
good.
― Tim F, Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:48 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah non-domestic battery isn't even a felony
― happy house of representatives (J0rdan S.), Thursday, 12 February 2009 23:48 (fifteen years ago) link
i think criminal threats applies where it's reasonable to suppose that the attacker was actually going to carry out the threat (to kill, etc), but was prevented from doing so
