maybe not just top 40, but it's defintely slanted twd pop formats (i.e. no urban/rock/country/etc niches)
I think the idea is that it uses only Mainstream Top 40 and doesn't include any "urban" or "rhythmic" Top 40 stations, in an effort to present a chart that wasn't glutted (as the Hot 100 frequently is) with rap and R&B songs.

it's ok, I'm sure you can still sit at the cool table during lunch break.

btw, lol at ILXor having to watch Katy Perry sell a zillion singles.
yes, it's twisting a knife in the message board's collective heart to watch a SONG that people don't LIKE top the charts, can you imagine.

your schadenfreude over this shocking turn of events is surely warranted, you vengeful renegade.
The bad news is that Coldplay is #1. The good news is that Coldplay are keeping Katy Perry out of #1.

ive done a total flip-flop on these two songs since this was posted - really digging that coldplay tune now & fortunately its the one im hearing more too

surm i actually thought you were on my side on that one?? i thought you repped for viva la vida

fwiw after deeznuts made the katy perry thread he tried to sit with me and alex in baltimore at lunch and we beat the shit out of him so maybe matt's got a point
I've said elsewhere (don't remember if it was on ILX or not) that I find "I Kissed a Girl" highly questionable and/or troublesome in a lot of ways, but I also think it's a pretty fantastic pop song.

I'm kind of opposite of jaymc here, the concept of the song is kinda stupid but I don't feel actively offended or annoyed by it, I just think her voice, the tune and the overall execution of the idea add up to a pretty mediocre song.

yeah, the only good part of this song is that fifteen-second segment where the dull-ass beat drops out, leaving us with a stumbling organ and a less annoying Natasha singing something along the lines of 'there's this place where i go that nobody knows' etc. Then the bass kicks in, she breaks into that butterflieeeeeeeeessssssssssss note and I swoon before she returns to the piece of shit that is "Pocketful of Sunshine." ;_;
I have similar relationships with Fergie songs.

correct me if im wrong but isn't "a milli" kinda like my humps 2.0 in terms of it's ascent. not a planned single, buyers forced the it on radio, forced the videos and the promos etc even tho the label had other songs planned as singles. i guess "my humps" had a faster ascent but i think the correlation is there

it's also my humps 2.0 in terms of its appeal! MY HUMPS MY HUMPS MY HUMPS vs A MILLI A MILLI A MILLI

Metro Station! How nice of them to pre-mix their rock song for play at dodgy suburban nightclubs. What i always wanted Robert Smith guesting on bad dance pop singles to sound like.

That Hayden Panettiere clip would make more sense if it was, like, vaguely latinate euro-trance-pop and Hayden's name was actually Hayla. But the song is quite good. Not as good as "Stars Are Blind", or not yet at least: the charms of kinda pointless sleazy summer reggae pop have to creep up on one, usually. Also I'll take her video boyfriend if she has no further use for him.
