Hi Maura! I really like yr magazine a lot!!
― whoop i. goldberg (Stevie D(eux)), Friday, 1 February 2013 01:37 (eleven years ago) link
The articles are the perfect size, the issues are easily digestible without feeling skimpy or too short, and reading them while I sip my morning tea has become a welcome addition to my morning routine.

was disappointed the article on "Ted" wasn't about TED, but instead novelty twitter accounts (and not good ones).
― s.clover, Friday, 1 February 2013 03:41 (eleven years ago) link
thank you so much for reading guys <3
― maura, Friday, 1 February 2013 22:13 (eleven years ago) link
It's great!
I apologize for the self-serving question but I figured people might want to know: can we pitch you with story ideas?
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 1 February 2013 22:14 (eleven years ago) link
andy beta piece about dub and football is something else
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 1 February 2013 22:14 (eleven years ago) link
maura magazine, alone among all magazine, takes no pitches. stories are assigned directly from the archangel Azazel who writes their synopses with fire on beaches along the red sea.

This is how it should be!

Worth mentioning this week's NPR Planet Money broadcast on the subscription model for blogs, which primarily featured Andrew Sullivan's new paywall, but had a substantial sidebar on Maura.

me too. i'd be more inclined to keep up with this if the issues were like 450 mb each, because i'd have to read them to make space on my ipad (e.g. fast company, which i am not renewing because the issues are like 450 mb each)
― : ; : (Autumn Almanac), Friday, 22 February 2013 19:26 (eleven years ago) link
in fact, if you want reliable ipad readership your issues should all be 7 gb
I am going to send a pitch to maura at maura dot com

hey I have a comment/suggestion -- I notice the article links on the main page only have the often enigmatic story titles, with no subheader or anything to tell you what the story is about. That might make some people less likely to read the articles (unless your hope is to *intrigue* people into clicking without knowing what they're getting into). I would be more likely to read stuff on the site with a better idea of what the articles are about before clicking.

thanks! there are subheads on the issue pages:http://www.mauramagazine.com/issue/51d1713bc873d91318a36926/spangle
― maura, Wednesday, 10 July 2013 17:02 (ten years ago) link
ah cool, so it wasn't a style choice then, in which case I think it would help to have them on the main page too if that can be made to work
― i don't even have an internet (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 10 July 2013 17:03 (ten years ago) link
Maura, it seems like people who aren't in the US/Can/Aus can't subscribe yet, is this right?

So, from that interview above, it seems that there is going to be a print version available? Still no ipad/iphone so excited if that's the case.
