If you could take ownership of another person's record collection, whose would you pick?

It's almost all on CD. I never fell for LPs though listening to old vinyl on my mates new system has been revelatory. PiL's "Flowers Of Romance" makes more sense than ever before.

I'd want from Chuck Warner's (Hyped2Death records) collection. So many uber-rare UK punk and post-punk 45s to devour...

we had a nice chat though.

i mean for the majority of people out there what i have in the store is eclectic/interesting enough to look through but some people live in other more specialized universes.

Awww, Turrican, that's so nice! I sure hope you like gobs of punk, post-punk, obscure Flying Nun and NZ indie, Aussie garage, alt-country, 50s rockabilly and miles and miles of The Fall!

I'd totally have a whale of time rifling through all that, no doubt about it! :D

I'm going to start selling a lot of stuff probably in the next month or two on discogs. I need the $$$!

dan selzer, Wednesday, 28 November 2012 15:52 (eleven years ago) link

if discogs is too slow you can always take a trip up to greenfield. i'm always buying! though i'm sure you would do fine on the discogs.

I'm terribly tickled by people who want my collection but in terms of actual CDs (and a small amount of vinyl) I don't know if people would actually be all that impressed. (I mean, I like to think I've got a core of really nice stuff around, including some complete label runs, but even so.)

Now if you were talking my music archive hard drive, but that's another story.

I don't think anyone has said Lux and Ivy's yet? So, theirs.

I have the digital version. Can't remember where I downloaded it from, but it was a 4 or 5 volume set called Lux and Ivy's Favorites.

which is what, one box of 45s?

i guess i'd just rather listen to canned heat? (ian), Wednesday, 28 November 2012 17:07 (eleven years ago) link

p.s. not to derail the thread but dan, if you are getting rid of any xpressway-related things please keep me in mind.

I think the only xpressway thing I have is the X-Way Vision VHS tape!

Joe Bussard, and I then I would have to invest in a good record player.

although i don't particularly care for him, someone like dr. dre's would be nice. it isn't like all those samples come from nowhere.

I think I'd like Alex Chilton's. From what I've heard it's full of great obscure old school soul and R&B, something I know a little about but would enjoy the deep dive.

Jack Rabid's walls of CDs and LPs have been fun to peruse.
