Just installed some extra BASS in my room and feeling really pleased that the upthread discussion of the delta funktionen ann aimee mix made me buy it 'cause it's sounding perfect right now.

love this smallpeople album

Didn't know there was new smallpeople stuff out! Thanks will check that out...

suare, Saturday, 13 October 2012 10:53 (twelve years ago) link

yeah the smallpeople album is great. every single track is solid.

dsb, Saturday, 13 October 2012 15:50 (twelve years ago) link

That Smallpeople clip is great, haven't heard anything else from the LP but looking forward to it. Ach those funky funky Germans. The STL song is a bit formulaic, but my impression could be limited by my crappy speakers. Andres 'Seasons So Long' is solid quality but the other two seem somewhat uninspired, harking back to the early-noughties lounge house that had me ready to renounce deep house forever.

I like this new direction FaltyDL is headed in, although his BiS mix was wildly inconsistent. He did admit he's not much of a DJ, more of just a producer:

vatican shadow's ghosts of chechnya LP sounds awesome on boomkat. i'm getting it.

"vatican shadow's ghosts of chechnya LP"

Without knowing anything about it, this already sounds like the most dreary and bleak record ever.

formerly EDB (ed.b), Tuesday, 30 October 2012 02:22 (twelve years ago) link

no, actually it's danceable. also this is a must have: marcellus pittman's places. I think it's a comp of his past works.

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Tuesday, 30 October 2012 03:15 (twelve years ago) link

it's coming up to the season for bleak, austere techno, and i feel like this vatican shadow album might slot neatly alongside silent servant in that regard

lex pretend, Tuesday, 30 October 2012 09:40 (twelve years ago) link

The Silent Servant album is fantastic. Post-punk influenced techno>>>

paolo, Tuesday, 30 October 2012 11:49 (twelve years ago) link

please continue talking about these things, as they align with my interests

* downloads new FACT mix *

d-_-b (mh), Tuesday, 30 October 2012 13:27 (twelve years ago) link

new Robert Hood is also good winter techno

karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Tuesday, 30 October 2012 13:53 (twelve years ago) link

xposts: Well, I was just referring to the title, and possible influenced by this hurricane-offshoot weather.

Just now getting around to (last year's) Superlongevity 5. Some really nice tracks I'd liked to have owned in non-mixed form if perlon wasn't making an expensive ltd ed. deal out of the vinyl box set.

formerly EDB (ed.b), Tuesday, 30 October 2012 13:54 (twelve years ago) link

perlon still has the no-digital-release rule, right?

The new Terrence Dixon has some very nice bits on it. FACT have been salivating whilst comparing it with Actress and Andy Stott....not sure I agree with that. Anyway, some of the cleaner minimal tracks on the album (particularly 'Tone') are f'ing choice.

this is GORGEOUS

lex pretend, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 09:08 (twelve years ago) link

Such an awful name, that kind of puts me off. Also online samples of that kind of stuff listened to on my laptop don't really bring out the best..

Missed this earlier in the year; Fur - Cocoon

another find on boomkat: http://www.phonicarecords.com/product/view/109656 (alejandro paz - free) for those who like their house quirky and playful

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 11:13 (twelve years ago) link

so vatican shadow gone dancey now? never cared much for his earlier records, but i might check this one out...

rusty_allen, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 13:21 (twelve years ago) link

He makes industrial sounding techno under the name Bed of Nails. It sounds a bit like Traversable Wormhole and is fairly good

paolo, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 13:55 (twelve years ago) link

not quite like vatican shadow, but anyone listened to pete swanson's recent ep?

d-_-b (mh), Wednesday, 31 October 2012 15:26 (twelve years ago) link

Forget bleak and austere, I want to talk about this lush Matthew Dekay & Lee Burridge track "Fur Die Liebe" which I discovered from the Mano Le Tough set linked in the mixes 2012 thread. Currently battling Christian Loeffler for the prize of best Pantha-Du-Prince homage this year.

boxedjoy, Wednesday, 31 October 2012 22:26 (twelve years ago) link

That's beautiful.

Plasmon, Thursday, 1 November 2012 05:40 (twelve years ago) link

is it just me or that sounds dated. I mean, that style was beaten to death circa 2007

dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Thursday, 1 November 2012 06:51 (twelve years ago) link

Thats derivative to the point of 'call the lawyers'

straightola, Thursday, 1 November 2012 15:34 (twelve years ago) link

Yeah that Lee Burridge has been knocking around for most of the year, it's really nice but such a shameless Saturn Strobe ripoff.

Matt DC, Thursday, 1 November 2012 15:36 (twelve years ago) link

not sure if this is the right thread for this sort of thing, but i think this is really fucking good:

Josiah Alan, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 02:45 (eleven years ago) link

Other than that I'm lining my bedroom/record cave with crunchy pissed industrial techno that takes itself too seriously.

Josiah Alan, Tuesday, 6 November 2012 02:46 (eleven years ago) link

^ i think i need more crunchy pissed industrial techno in my life

off-topic and historical, but re:industrial techno I think this was shared elsewhere on ilx: http://promomixes.com

That Kolombo 12" on Kompakt sounds really great. The new Speicher 72 has an amazing track by Auntie Flo on it..

hi, can anyone recommend me gorgeous sunny ambient-and-whatnot mixes like dj sprinkle's RA podcast (great!) and hunee's things behind the sun? thanks.
